2 am wake up call by Remy sooo Remy scared me last night. I was sound asleep... all snug in my pillow... when I heard the screams of my little Remy!!! I jumped up.. very disoriented.. and found her on the floor crying. I picked her up and tried to get her to stand on my bed. She couldn't stand... I thought OMG she broke her back leg.. it was all curled up under her body. She's screaming, I am crying and my dh is sleeping through the noise:mad: Well.. after closer inspection I see what the problem is... the nail of her rear paw was stuck in the hair of her belly. don't ask.. I don't know how:confused:!! But it was simple to fix.. clip clip :cool:and Remy was happy, dh was still sleeping and I was wired:D!!! |
 OMG!! I would have had a heart attack!! |
Awww, poor Remy. That had to be scary! |
This happens to my cavaliers, with their long, fluffy ears. They get their back paw nails stuck in them regularly while scratching. Freaks me out EVERY time! Glad Remy was ok! |
Poor Remy Thats how Sugar screamed when her nails kept getting hooked in the mesh of her Kwigy Bo Bag:( I thought I was going to have to cut her out of the bag on the airplane  |
Oh my goodness! How scary... With all the stuff you can read about on here, it could have been anything! I'm glad to hear it was only her toe nail... You must have been freaked! |

What a night for both of you! And leave it to the dh to sleep through it - sounds all too familiar!!! Both of you probably could have used a small bit of Valium after that. Here's hoping tonight is a much more restful night for both of you!:) |
Now THAT would be scary. I'm so glad Remy is all better. These little stinkers sure know how to put the scare into us, that's for sure. Hope you were able to get back to sleep. |
Thanks for the post. Another "emergency" to watch out for. I have not cut my Yorkies' nails for some time now, relying instead on lots of walks on the concrete sidewalks (along with some bad behavior traits, e.g., trying to charge out after robins, squirels, et. cet. but being held back by a harness) to keep my guys nails in check. So far so good, since I have never used the services of a groomer. The thing I need to keep an eye out for more than anything (since mine have terrier/puppy cuts and I keep the belly hair short) seems to be the dew claws which were supposed to be removed, but there are a couple that were missed for whatever reason. Those will grow back into their skin if you dont keep them clipped short and they never get worn down due to their location. Good thing is that cutting them does not seem to get to the quick as it can when cutting their regular nails. I know what you mean about the screams. They will certainly let you know if they are in distress! |
OMG! Poor little baby! I bet she was scared too!!! Thank goodness it was something easy to fix! :D |
Omg! I'm glad Remy is all right. I had something similar happen with Rhia a few months ago. She didn't freak out, but was limping and it scared me to death. I was glad to see it was just a stuck nail! |
Gotta watch for Burber Rugs also....catches nails very easily |
poor remy, glad it was not serious |
Oh little Remy, glad you're ok sweetie! |
