Pottying during the night Sadie has slept with me since the first day I got her. She slept all night long for at least 2 weeks. Then one night she had an accident, and I didn't want that to happen again. I started taking her out during the night. Now she rarely sleeps the entire night without waking up and jumping off the bed. She won't use her pee pad during the night. She is almost 11 months old. How do I break this waking up to go potty each night? Sometimes it is 2-3 times -- usually once or twice. She will only sleep the entire night if she is exhausted after playing hard all day or going away for the day. |
In the evening when is the last time you take her out? We broke the habit by making sure Sophie Kate goes out right before bed time and no water after that time. |
Personally, I would work harder on getting her pee pad trained- I know I have one dog who would not be able to hold it all night- I have her pad trained, so she knows to get up and go to the bathroom and come back to bed. I never even notice her leave, so she doesn't wake me. The only way to stop her from going would probably be to withhold water after a certain point at night, but that is something I am not comfortable with at all. |
I take her outside right before we go to bed. She is pad trained also and uses pads in the house during the day while I am at work and also at night while we are watching tv. She goes outside and on the pads. I have a pad in the bedroom for during the night but she jumps off the bed and won't use it. She just stands at the door to go out. If I don't take her out, she pees on the floor. I used to take her water away early evening until she got a bladder infection. Then I decided it was more important that she is well hydrated. She doesn't seem to drink that much late evening and never during the night. So far it sounds like I am doing everything others recommend. Thanks guys! |
