Basil's splint is off...he is great The splint is off, and the X-Ray showed that the leg has healed perfectly. The surgeon said to take it easy with him for a month as far as running and jumping. So, he will either be in his X-Pen or on a leash when walking in the house. After 4 weeks, he can go crazy. When we got home, we took him outside on the lease. There is a slight limp and the vet said it will last 1-2 weeks.....it was hardly noticeable, and when he was in the splint, the splint was a tad longer than his other leg. We are very releived and glad he is ok and will be as good as new. Thank you for all of the kind words over the paswt month. You guys are the best. |

Glad Basil is as good as new...... |
I'm so glad to hear that Basil is doing so well!!! Give him hugs from us! |
Yay, he has to feel better with that splint off, and I am so glad his report was good!!! |
I so happy the little one is free of his splint! Maybe the limp is him adjusting to the "lightness" of his leg being without the wrap. It was MANY years ago, but when I was a little kid I broke my leg. When the cast came off I felt like my leg was going to take flight, lol.:p Anyway, it just goes to show what great parents your furbabies have! |
Yea, great news!! |
Awesome news!!! I can imagine how happy you are. Good going Basil!!! |
Wonderful news :) When my last yorkie broke her leg she walked a little funny/limpish when she got her cast off...I assumed due to the light feeling of her leg & it being a bit shorter than her casted leg. It lasted 3 days, then she was back to her usual walk. I do gating-off my family room/nook area and putting upside-down plastic laundry baskets & totes on all the sofas, chairs, etc. so that she couldn't jump up on them. Looked quite a sight, but it did the job! |

He will have no limp in a week or two. He is adapting to not longer having the cast and split, and both were longer than his other leg. Even now, not much of a limp. He is doing great today enjoying him Pen in Marge's office as she works, and I play and clean pistols. Thank you Anna |
