Silly puppy you are not a cow! Moshe has started eating grass. He woofs it down like it's a salad bar! When he has a BM it's in there almost intact (the grass). I do check his poo everyonce and awhile because we had a really aggressive bout of round worm and I want to make sure everything is how it should be. Anyway, I asked the vet. He asked what food he was on and determined it wasn't due to lacking nutrients. He asked if he ever got sick from it, and he doesn't. His vet said that as long as the grass isn't treated with pesticides and he wasn't vomiting then he should be fine. He suggested feeding him green beans and broccoli (cooked) to see if that would help. Moshe eats them just fine but will still stop for a few blades of grass on our walks. I know cats will eat grass from time to time when they feel under the weather but Moshe is far from ill. Since the round worm epidemic of 2011 he has been the picture of adorable health. Anyone else seen this in their babies? |
When Buster was a puppy taking him for walks was always an adventure because he wanted to eat/taste everything. It was walk two steps leave it..two more steps leave it. I started joking that leave it wa going to become his middle name. He sampled grass but pinecones and crunchy things were more to his liking. I would think that you have to be careful about eating other dogs poop as they might have something that could be passed to your dog. Buster loves vegetables I give him baby romaine, carrots, green beans, and sprouts in a salad. he loves spinach too but I learned that spinach can leech the calcium so he gets it only vegetables. Best wishes to you and your grazer! |

Tibbe snacks on everything he can find in the yard as soon as I turn my head. His middle name is "Leave it", too! So far, he hasn't had any bad anything but I have to watch him like a hawk when outside as he's a big time grazer. |
