Allergies? Good afternoon everyone! The past few nights, Quinn has woken me up with reverse sneezing. This only lasts a few minutes, but I hate hearing her reverse sneeze! L She has also been sneezing a lot more often during the day. Allergies are affecting everyone pretty bad here this year—am I correct to assume that is what has been bothering her? Or should I be worried about something else? Otherwise, she is acting completely normal—she just sneezes more! I’ve thought about giving her some Benadryl, but I don’t want a drugged up pup every day, especially when she seems happy as is. Any advice? Also, does anyone give their pup glucosamine? My bf thought it might be a good idea to go ahead and get her started on it. If so, how much are you giving? (Obviously I will consult with my vet before doing this, I was just curious!) THX!!! :) |
I got regular strength Cosequin capsules and sprinkle them over food if you want to start glucosamine. When she is reverse sneezing, putting your finger(s) over her nose for a second should help her stop (if it is truly reverse sneezing). Regular sneezes can be from allergies, but that isn't the only possibility. How often is it happening? Since it's a new occurrence and it sounds like she is doing it regularly, I'd go ahead and have the vet take a look. |
I recently had to call my vet because my 5 month old yorkie has been doing the reverse sneezing a lot lately and it sounded like it was making her uncomfortable... and its quite scary sounding. My vet said that because its allergy season its going to happen and told me to give her pediatric benadryl in a specific dose once or twice a day. I say call your vet and ask her what you should be doing for her. |
Callie has allergies watery eyes, sneezing, reverse sneezing, runny nose and she brakes out so my doctor gave me Hydroxyzine. She said I could do it every 12 hours but I just give her one in the morning/early afternoon and that covers most of the time she spends outside and it doesn't make her sleepy or grumpy like Benadryl. |
