I have a Q about sire and dam Teddie's AKC registration came today and it said that if a date was after the sire and dam's name and number (which there is for both) that this indicates which stud book register they are published in. Does this mean I can look them up in some way and see more of Teddie's lineage? or is this something different. Also, why would they list the DNA numbers for the sire? I have never heard of this before. Am I supposed to get Teddie's DNA certified in some way? These may be dumb questions, but honestly Teddie is my first AKC pup. I've never dealt with this before and I want to make sure I don't mess something up registry wise/lineage wise. Thank you all for any information you can give me. |
You only need DNA if you breed a male..not necessary for a pet. You can order a pedigree, but you can not get access to stud books...although I did see an ad once by a pedigree service selling out...big $$$$ Best wishes |
