My mommy doesn't think..... 3 Attachment(s) ....my ears will ever stand up on their own ! I've already lost my baby teeth and my new "grown up" teeth are coming in. I don't have thick hair on my ears and my mom keeps them shaved down anyways... Mom here...Niki is 5 months old. Her ears have always flopped down. I've taped them up a few times, when I remove the tape, they stay up for about 5 minutes, then flop back down. I have seen them "stand up" though, it was very windy one day and Niki's head was turned just right :-) Want to know what you experts think...does it look like Niki's ears MAY eventually stand up? I've tried looking at pictures of your pups (all so cute) to see at what age the ears started to stand but it so hard to tell. Thanks for your thoughts :D PS-If any of you taped your baby's ears, how long did you do it for?...and to what age did you continued to tape? |
They might or might not. I know that isn't much help but that is pretty well the story on the ears. Just as many people love the "non-erect" ears as those who just love the erect ears. Either way they wind up looking adorable!!:aimeeyork |
WHat a cutie!!!!!! |
I think he's adorable with them down :) I have 1 yorkie with floppy ears, and 1 with ears that are up. |
I am not sure when the ears finally "set", but I do love floppy eared yorkies. :) |
If you are set on the erect ears, I would tape them. They still can go up after 5 months. Good luck... She's cute either way :D |
They don't look like they'll stand, but you could give it a try. What a cutie! This thread will tell you how: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...tml#post295488 |
I followed the advice on using Tear Mender and paper bags when my Biewer girl, Jolee, was 4 months old. I left the "braces" in her ears until the glue began to let go (7-8 days) and then rubbed her ears with baby oil gel until the paper fell out. Her ears were up and have stayed that way ever since. (She is about to turn 7 months old.) Easiest thing I can imagine, and GREAT results! No pain for the puppy, no irritation, no "redoing" it every other day, and nearly invisible to boot! My vet thought I was a genius -- thanks for the good advice, YT! Keep the ears shaved down, too. We keep Jolee's "tipped" (about the top third, inside and out), which my groomer does for free in between grooming appointments. God luck! It's certainly worth a try! |
You might try Mayday's advice but Nikki looks like a lot of dogs here that never have erect ears. She has very wideset ears that are more on the side of her head than on top. She has the broader face with the large nose. That is just the look of many that wind up with the lovable, floppy ears. Look through the YT Gallery and you will see what I mean. There are several yorkie "looks" and yours seems to go with the floppy ears. Not saying it will be impossible but after looking at yorkie pictures for YEARS, I just think she is likely to stay floppy eared. What a sweetheart, either way! She is a cutie! |
I think she is adorable the way she is. My Teddie has floppy ears, and they are HUGE so I don't think his will stand erect. I don't care, his ears are too cute...all floppy and ayorkable. :p |
Hot Rod's ears didn't stand up until he was 8 months old so there's hope. lol The poor baby went around with shaved ears and I taped them for short while. I would catch them up every so often and then down they were again. I literally had given up on them standing and within 1-2 days they were up and have been ever since. It was funny, I took an avatar picture of him and his ears were down and the very next day, they were up. So hang in there, there is hope. |
So adorable! :) |
such a cutie :) i love the ears the way they are!! |
Zach's ears used to stand up but for the past few months his ears flopped. I don't really care I love him just the way he is. |
