I test once a year at their yearly exam.... my guys are on heart worm pills all year.... |
It is recommended that it be done yearly. I get it done at their annual appointment and then buy a years supply of the meds at that time, that way it is easy to remember when they need the test again, when the meds are empty it is time to get re-tested. |
My vet does it yearly at her yearly check up |
We do it yearly. We are on Interceptor all year long as well. |
Sammy gets tested once a year and he takes Inteceptor once a month all year long. |
ZoE has never been tested & she's on her second month of Interceptor. She'll be 20 weeks old this week. Is this because she was born in the winter? |
IDK, Minnie was born 9/30/10 and is now going on walks often. There are mosquito's out now and they are notorious for being huge as well in Missouri. Quote:

Annualy is fine:) They do need to be tested annualy for a refill on a preventative and if they've been off a preventative for over 1 month, they'll need to be tested again before going back on it. |
Annually with a trusted product given year-round... |
As long as they remain on the heartworm prev. all year round is it 1 year , than again a years later than after that every two years per my newest vet. recomendations. |
In order to get your prescription renewwed, you must have them tested annually. |
Last I heard, if the dog is on HW preventative year round and doesn't miss a dose then they can be tested every 2 years. they need to be tested at one year old and then after that they can start the every 2 year test. |
