How much did your baby weigh as a puppy? Hello, I am just curious about how much your dog weighed at 3 months and how much they weigh now as an adult. I got a little one, she was 2 1/2 months when I got her and she weighed 1.35lbs, the vet said that by next visit in a month she should weigh about 2 lbs. That way she could start on flea and heart worm medication. I took her back a month later and she only weighs 1.37lbs. She has not really gained any weight. She eats all the time and she is very active so the vet is not concerned. Does anyone know about how much she will weigh as an adult? Thanks |
My puppy weighed 1.5 pounds when I picked her up at 8 weeks old. She is now 11 weeks old and weighs about 2 pounds. Her mom was only 4.5 and I adopted the only girl out of a little of 6. Seems she was the runt cuss her brothers all ganged up on her for the food ? (joke). Anyways, I am just assuming she will get no bigger than 4 or 5 pounds as an adult. I have read the article on how to predict their adult weight on this website. It basically said to weigh them at 3 months, double it, and that should be the adult weight. I am curious on the other answers you get and will keep checking back. |
Marley weighed about 1.9 lbs at 3 months. She's technically not an adult yet but at 6 months she weighs about 4 lbs. |
hmmmm... according to a growth chart it says she should only weigh about 3.5 lbs! i feel like thats too small. |
Princess weighed exactly 2 pounds the day we got her at nine and a half weeks. She held steady at 6.9 pounds for months, but is recently 7.6 at 15 months. |
Lulu weighed 2.2 lbs at 14 weeks when we got her. Now at 1 year she weighs 3.5 lbs. |
Remy weight 1.2 pounds at 9 weeks she gained up 3.5 and stayed there for months then at about 14 months she was spay and I changed over to home cooking and she gained up to 4.5 FAST -- but it looks good on her because before she was too thin. Now she about between 4.5 and 5 lbs. This is more than the charts show she would be. Her mom was 5 lbs and dad was 4.5 lbs. I am like you, I didn't want her too small because I have other dogs that are bigger and I wanted a healthy dog. I did enjoy when she was tiny.. but she is just as cute now and such a personality!! |
1 pound, 8 ounces at 8 weeks. Ideal weight as an adult is about 6 pounds, 8 ounces, but she stays in the 5 pound range on the very skinny side most of the time. |
I met Jackson at 9 weeks old when he was 5lbs. :) My big teapot boy is now 16lbs at 2.5 years old. |
My Bailey RIP was 2.5 lbs at 12 weeks and 5.5 lbs as an adult Bella was 3.5 lbs at 12 weeks, she is 2 1/2 yrs old now and is 9.9 lbs teapot. Harley was 2.2 lbs at 12 weeks, he is 7 mos now and is 4.2 lbs and has been at that weight for over a month now...like your baby he isn't gaining...He is such a picky eater and I'm not use to that, both my girls were/and are big eaters. I home cook once a day for them and leave kibble down 24/7 and he just picks at it...I just switched both my babies kibbles to Wellness super5mix, Harley really likes it so I'm hoping he will start gaining some much needed weight...cause he looks under weight to me. |
I have no idea. He was 6.1 lbs at 12 months, then 7 at 18 months. He's gotten as fat as 9 lbs (too many treats from mom and the grandparents  ) but he should weigh 7 lbs, which he does now. :) |
I believe Bella weighed around 3lbs around 16 weeks. She is now 6 mos and weighs 5.9 lbs. Also according to the growth chart if I'm not mistaken, I think it said she would be in the 5 lb range. She's obviously over that. I do believe it is a good tool for "guesstimating", but I wouldn't say it is set in stone. I have quit trying to keep track of it as long as she is still gaining appropriate weight and her vet isn't concerned. |
Apple was 2 lbs. @ 12 weeks...At 2 1/2 yrs. old, she weighs 5 1/2 lbs...Buzz was my second fur baby, and you know what they say about the 2nd one:rolleyes:...Well, I don't remember what he weighed @ 4 months, when I got him, but now at almost 2 yrs. old, he weighs 6 lbs...Btw, Buzz was the "runt" and grew to be the largest of the four!... |
Is there a growth chart on this site or online? The one thats been posted in older threads isnt working anymore. |
One thing to remember also is its all genetics and what one pup weighs at one age vrs another will and can be completely different. Only those genes are going to tell the real story :D |
