No food after midnight/surgery tomorrow My stomach is already in knots!!! I am so nervous for him! When we made the appointment for Jeds neutering he was only I think 2.9lbs. Thankfully, we have found some food that he likes and treats that he L.O.V.E.S and he is now up to 4lbs!!! That make me feel a little better about the whole thing. He is almost 5 months. The reason for going ahead and doing the surgery now is he started marking stuff, everywhere!!! Vet told me it "was" early for that to start but not totally unheard of. Still wanted me to wait 3 weeks till the surgery. Now the 3 weeks are up and the big day is tomorrow and I can feel the queezyness starting for me. |
It is always nerve wracking when they have that surgery but just keep yourself busy and it will be over before you know it. I have 7 animals, 5 cats and two yorkies so Ive been through it 7 times in the last few years and I know the nervousness but you have to put trust in your vet and know youll be happy when its done and over with. I will keep Jed in my good thoughts and prayers |
Don't worry Jed will be fine. Presto was about 3 lbs when we got him neutered, he's upto 3.9 now. He was up running and jumping the next day, i think i was more sad and upset than him. |
I know you are scared but this procedure is so successful that I would try not to worry and just think about how great it will be to pick him up and get him back home. He will probably be pretty sleepy and just snooze the rest of the day and night away. Remember, your group of fellow Yorkie lovers are pulling for your baby! |
Thanks ya'll! I know he will probably be fine. I guess I am more nervous about the "after" You know, how to keep him from jumping on stuff, how to keep him from licking. They told me about 9 days after surgery to take out the stiches. 9 days!!!! 9 days of no jumping? 9 days of no licking? 9 days of not ripping out the stiches? GASP! How did everyone handle these problems? |
Hi... Our LucyBelle had her surgery a few weeks ago at 4.5 pounds. I was so so nervous, too but she did GREAT. Someone here said to us a baby onesie to cut down on the licking...I "borrowed" some from my daughter's babydoll clothes bin and they worked great! Jeannie |

Harley hasn't done any licking at all...keeping him confined so he doesn't jump and run has been the hardest so far and he only has 1 more day of confinement rest left..Yay!! but my Vet said only 5 days of confinement rest...I guess all Vets are different. Try not to worry to much...trust me I know its easier said than done...but everything will be ok...I will keep you two in my prayers...Don't forget to get the Blood panel done before they put him under...very important..Good luck!! |
Bentley and I are sending our thoughts and prayers your way. Jed will do fine. Its you I'm worried about. Take some deep breathes!!! It will be ok. Those baby onies are a good idea. Keep us posted. |
I just drop mine off and try not to think about it until they call to say they are ready for discharge. Make sure he has had preanesthetic blood work before allowing the procedure to occur, I feel strongly about that. I will keep your little one in my thoughts. |
Sending get-well wishes! Don't worry too much - my Bullet was just 2.8 lbs when he was neutered (at 7 months old). Luckily he never learned to mark and still squats to pee like a puppy. And yes - pre-anesthesia blood work is a must! |

Kody went in this morning too - he is also getting micro chipped? Your little one will be ok. I got my Kiss E collar on Monday. |
My little Becca just got back from a Spay yesterday, it was like nothing happened. Spry as ever. But on the Stitches, my Vet put some in her, which dissolve on their own. lol  |
Kody is out of surgery and in recovery everything went fine. Will pick him up 3:30. |
