Looking for a good shampoo We let Ruger's hair grow out so it's a bit longer now. I was using Fluffy Puppy and that was pretty good, then one of my clients turned me onto a shampoo made in Italy I'm not really impressed with. My problem is that now when I'm done it's almost impossible to brush him out. His brush hangs up and I don't know what to do. I'm guessing it shouldn't be this difficult for both me and the dog. Help! |
Have you tried Pet Silk Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Following up with serum will make the coat super shiny |

BTW, I let his coat dry out a bit, still damp, and it was easier to brush, but still not great. |
Hi below is the link for serum Pet Silk Liquid Silk Serum 4oz - $14.99 : Diva Puppy, Pamper Your Friend. The serum is an amazing product which helps bring shine to the coat and help make it smoother |
I use T-Gel, and even wash my face with it! |
I use Minksheen shampoo and pantene conditioner |
I use Tropiclean or Buddywash (shampoo and conditioner). If I don't have the conditioner I will use pantene also. My review of Tropiclean is that it leaves my Troy awesome and smelling wonderful with a soft and clear coat but after 4 days or so Troy will be oily looking and due for another bath. Review of buddywash, wonderful all natural product and as long as Troy doesn't get into anything he will smell fresh and look clean for at least a week. |
You only mentioned shampoo, are you using a conditioner at all? If not, that's your problem:). I have the Pet Silk Serum too and I have to say, I'm not crazy over it, I honestly don't see much results. The conditioner does a much better job than the serum IMO, guess it depends on the coat type though? Is the Italian product IV San Bernard? Their PEK conditioner is suposed to be amazing, I'm going to be ordering it soon. |
I use Yorkie Splash and Shine. I use the shampoo, conditioner, & the Sheen detangler/coat conditioning spray. If you aren't using a conditioner simply adding a quality conditioner could make a difference. |

Can be used on wet or dry coats. For optimal results, rub two or three drops of Liquid Silk between hands (in order to warm it) before applying to coat. Spread it out evenly and lightly on the coat while gently finger combing the hairs. When dealing with longer coats, add a few more drops and go under the coat, legs, chest, shoulders and the tips of the coat. |
I use Bio-groom silk creme conditioner after bathing my dogs and I let it sit on their coats for a minute or two before rinsing. It works great and helps to comb them out. My Teddy and Barney have long coats and Daisy is a little shorter coat but the product works on all three. I love the smell also. |
Right now I have Chris Christensen Spectrum Ten. I like it ok.. I am not totally in love with it... I think I will try Biogroom or Pet Silk next |
I like Show Season, and their Naturals line as well as BioGroom products. |
Wow! Looks like I have a lot of products to look at. I am beginning to thing that just like people, part of my problem is not using a conditioner of some kind. I should probably have a talk with my groomer, too. Thanks for all the advice. |
