Newcomer here! Hi everyone. I just adopted my fifth Yorkshire Terrier, Maggie. (lost my last baby Yorkie, Madeline November 2, 2010) Having some difficulty paper (pad) training. The biting is a bit much also. I am somewhat disabled, in that I have stairs which are difficult for me to navigate. I do plan on taking Maggie outside for walks as soon as she has completed her required shots and any other necessary check-up by the doc. She is a sweet dog and I know I'm a easy touch! But any help by anyone would be greatly appreciated. Should I mention I will be 70 yrs old in October? Yep, it's a shocker. But Maggie is going to help me ease into old age :p I hope someone replies to my post because I have NO IDEA what I am doing on this great website. Thanks a bunch, Ann :aimeeyork |
Hi Ann, welcome:D. congratulations on your new furbaby:) This forum is really great, you can get alot of tips and advice, everyone's very helpfull. It does take a llittle bit to get used to though, there's alot of information here.;) I'm a first time Yorkie owner (I've had many other bigger breeds though) but there are a lot of really experienced people here that I'm sure will reply to you also:). So, you're having trouble training to use the piddle pads? Are they the scented ones? My Alice is 6 months old and she was really easy, it took about 2 weeks for her to use them consistantly (maybe a little longer for #2:rolleyes:) so I'm probably not the best person to advise for that but there are quite a few threads that discuss this issue. Look in the "training" section. Did you say she's biting you? In what way? Is it during certain times or when you do certain things? Or maybe I read it wrong and she's chewing things? If you can give a little more details that would be great to help you out better:) Once again, welcome to TY :wavey::yorkietal |
First welcome to YT , You can roam the posts and find so much information on just about everything in here. I am wondering is this puppy nips or actual bites ? |
Welcome!! I'm a new Yorkie owner so there will be people on here that will give you great advice! Praise you for rescuing a pup!! |
Welcome to YT! You've come to the right place for answers to any questions you may have! Sounds like Maggie's still going to keep you feeling young :) |
Welcome Ann from another newbie! Your going to love it here. Looking forward to hearing all about your "baby". |
Hello and Welcome! Congrats on getting Maggie! I'm so happy for you! |
Thank you Thanks to everyone for replying !! I will try the scented pad and Maggie isn't biting.. I should have said playing/nipping. I think she is responding to NO though, so we'll see how it goes. I can't tell you all how happy all your replies made me!!:p |
