That sounds like a very healthy weight for your little boy. I'm guessing he will be between 6 and 7 lbs fully grown. It's on the heavier side of the breed standard but within the standard nonetheless |
Welcome, Mr. Pucker. YT is a wealth of information and photo's and lots of stories. I'm not good about anticipated weights but here is an example of a Yorkie's weight/age I got as a young puppy. When I got Jilly at age 4 1/2 mos., about mid-April, 1991, she weighed 2 1/2 lbs. and she was born on the day Desert Storm began, which I think was December 10, 1990. She grew to be 3 lbs., the weight she stayed at for the next 12 years. When I got my present Yorkie, he was 9 mos. old and weighed about 4 1/2 lbs. and once he was about 14 mos., he weighed 5.3 lbs., which is what he still weighs. Sounds from your little guy's weight, he might be more in the upper size range. I like all size Yorkies but cannot help but think the larger sized ones are less prone to injury as their body parts are just more substantial. |

Sounds like you have a healthy boy! I have a female 2 ys old 4 pounds a male 6 pounds hes 1 1/2y old and they have a baby who is 11 weeks old 2.9 pounds yesterday. The AKC standered is up to but not over 7 pounds but some do go over who are healthy eatters we like to call them teapots.. Yorkies like any other dog or even human come in all different shapes and sizes and while you cant really quess there adult weight, as long as their healthy thats all that matters. Best of luck with your baby and We hope to see more post from you here on YT were there are great people who are full of information pertaining to the breed. |
