Teddi has always been a jumper. She jumps on and off the couch all the time but most of my friends with tinys can't jump up at all. I kind of wish she couldn't jump but she can and has been since she was little so I don't think she would stop now. |

Enough training like that and lots of praise plus an "uh oh" and kind of turning your head away from them for a while when they do jump down off the couch itself, can gradually them to using the doggie stpes. Tibbe just almost took right to those steps once he learned not to be afraid of them and that they were after all a fun game! Good luck! |
Whitney climbs the couch like a cat. I swear she is half-cat in other ways too! It's hilarious. As a rule, we don't allow our dogs on the couches because they aren't very low and I'm worried they would get hurt, so we put her back on the floor, but yeah, it's pretty funny to watch. :D |
I fixed the getting up on the sofa issue with Jett. The family room sofas, are pretty darned low to the floor. I folded up a blanket on the floor on one end of the sofa. It gives Jett about 1 inch up towards teh couch. Within a minute he was up on the sofa. He will not jump down however, which is great for me!!!! :D |
My DH built my two ramps up to the bed and couch. I really don't think it's good for smaller yorkies to jump down from any height... |
We used puppy stairs. Then one day when he was playing, he just jumped up. That was when he was over a year. He has also recently made it to 4lbs, and he seems sturdier all together. We moved the stairs, and he jumps up now. |
Nope, Minnie can't jump on a sofa but she can jump down. She is really little. |
