What does this part in hair mean? Ok this may be a dumb question but I noticed Hayleys coat this morning while grooming her, it is starting to part like at the base of her head anddown just a lil ways on her back.My question is does this indicate what type of hair she will have like long and silkey or shorter and cottony? Seems like I read somewhere that it means silky. I have read so much and tried to absorb everything that I can but I cant really rember what I read pertaining to this. Dont get me wrong no matter what type hair she has I love her the same I was just wondering |
I don't think the part has anything to do with the coat type  but as it get's longer, it will part due to the heaviness. My mother's malt has a cottony coat and it parted. Same with my yorkies and their silky coats. It still parts. |
part As a rule the nicer coats tend to part normally..so of it is due to repeated parting from grooming..like human hair pairing in the same place..it is trained to do it. A soft coat has to be worked on to get a part, then the dog can shake and it is gone! LOL The silk coat will fall back in place easier. |
This is just the natural part that yorkies and many of the other long hair breeds develop as they become older. |
