Wowzers! Good news is they found the one in New York. Bad news is there is still one loose.....in your yard! I gotta say, snakes don't scare me too much but I grew up with a snake loving brother. I either learned to identify them and know they were harmless, or live in fear. On the otherhand, we rarely see venomous ones here. Do you live close to water? Looking at where you live, and your description, it doesn't sound good. I'd do just what you did. Grab your boys and RUN!!! Run faster!!!! Faster!!!! |

I feel the same way about Snakes! So glad yr babies didn't get tooo close. My Dad puts out moth balls in their yard every year & he swears by it to keep snakes away. Of course, you have to be very careful to put away from harm to yr babies. Good Luck Girl with the snake issue!:( |

Of course, we have snakes in South Florida..not seen a poisonous one as yet, but there was a monster black snake by my friends porch...I screamed so loud...and wet my pants. Then Bill said he saw a small one by the courtyard...BUT he said he watched and it was going down the street..sure it was...I bet that sucker is in the garage. |

I read that snakes fear dogs and cats and don't generally want to be near them. I hope Max scared the s**t out of him. |

That snake could of once been somebody's pet:eek: When they get too big, people let them go. If their is a wild life center anywhere in your county, call them to get rid of the snake. It surprised me that animal control would not help. Call them back and ask them if their is anther nuber you can call to get rid of it. Snakes like to hide, and they need warmth. So that snake is hiding somehwere where it is warm. Thankfully you were on it, and got your babies out of harms way. Because that snake if as big as you say it is, would easiely be able to get one of yur babies. Living in Florida, I am certain you already are aware of this. That snake could even get up into your car engine, I would keep trying to get help. Perhaps call your county city , and ask for the number to the wildlife game control. Until that snake is found and caught, I would not let my little dogs be outside alone . I hate snake too, yuck . |
I'm so sorry you had to deal with this...having to face a fear head-on with no warning is soooo scary. about your FL apt. it reminds me of this episode of "infested" that i saw, which i had to stop because it was just too much for me! This may sound silly, but i wonder if Billy the Exterminator has any tips on his web site or anything, and also he is in Louisiana i believe. good luck!:) |

My apartment faces a a large field right outside of my balcony. I heard stores about snakes crawling up the steps right at your door  Luckily it hasnot happened yet. But, we have had plenty of mice problems ... I think i take on mice then snakes though> we can always get rid of mice, but snakes, poses a whole new issues. Still wonderinf if it was somebody's pet ... Or came from the swamp lands... |
