Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help. I have learned so much from this site, in just one week.
Also - I have to share a story about Luca with you.
I really learned alot last week about the right foods to feed yorkies. And following your suggestions I bought Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach.
I know that you are suppose to mix the old and new and slowly take out the old from the dog's diet, so that is what I did. When I added the new stuff, I noticed that when Luca would eat and get a bite of the old stuff, he would spit it out on the rug beside the bowl and only eat the new stuff. Needless to say, there was a small pile of the old stuff on the floor that night.
Well, the next morning, I took him outside as usual, then came back in to the kitchen, which is where his food bowl is. Luca barked at me - which is out of the norm for him. So, I looked down at his food, and all that was left in the bowl was the old stuff. He had picked out and eaten all of the new type of food. So I threw the old away and gave him new. I can tell he is so much happier now. (and he has stopped the excessive pooping :) )

That is so funny and only goes to show you how smart yorkies are. Sounds like he really likes the new food. :aimeeyork

I agree - they really are smart, huh? That is an adorable story! Sandy did the same thing when I switched her food! We laughed until we cried! :D

That's hilarious. I'm so amazed at how smart yorkies are. I was not too familiar with the breed, but I wanted to learn a little more about them because I wanted one. Well, officially I am picking up Fred on Friday night. I spoke to my breeder last night just to check up and see how he's coming along. She told me I got the prize of the litter because he is so smart and has the spunkiest personality. As well, she said if I hadn't already bought him, she would have kept him for herself! :p

She told me that when he eats, the bowl is a little too high for him to stick his head in there so he'll take his paw and tip it over so it's rolling on the side of the bowl and then he'll eat his food.

And also, the other night she was washing dishes and she had him in his little play pen. She looked over and saw him sitting straight up on his hind legs so she was like "Oh my!" and when she got closer to him, he was propped straight up on his hind legs with his two front paws sticking out of the holes on the play pen and wrapped around it just staring at her. SHe said he looked like a monkey at the zoo! LOL.. I can't wait to bring him home!! :animal-sm :p

oh wow! Natalie - how exciting. glad you are getting one.
They are incredibly smart. Luca is so smart, he somehow got over a 4 foot high gate and he also was able to unlatch 2 different pieces to be able to get out of the crate we put him in while we were at work. And 2 other times he chewed through leashes to get loose as well. (needless to say - I gave up and I do not locked him up anymore)
unfortunately I did not get the chance to raise Luca from a young age. I just got him in December and he is 21 months old now. (someone found him wandering around the neighborhood and could not find the owner, so she gave him to us)
So we were not able to train him at any early age. But the good thing was - he came to us already house trained!!!
I love him so much, I find myself going home early from work, just to be with him! I miss him when I am not home! :-(
One thing about this breed though - the separation anxiety issues. I hate when he looks pitiful when I leave him to go to work.
Anyway - I am glad you guys thought Luca's story was as cute as I did.

Our little ones did the exact same thing...we switched them from Iams to Yorkshire cannin....and they would pick out the new and Magic would hide the Iams in order to get more of the new...it was so funny we kept finding Iams all over the living room...we eventually got them totally switch and they love it!!!
