These are not foods I would recommend for treating allergies. You need to try a Limited Ingredient Diet with a strange protein source that is grain free.

I recommend Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet Potato and Duck Small Breed Bites. Rylie (my morkie) is on it and she does great. It is a food specifically designed to treat allergies.

My cat Suki is the reason I found this food. My old vet at the time had no idea what was going on. I finally deduced on my own that she most likely had a food allergy and researched foods. She used to literally RIP her ears open raw scratching and vomit almost daily. Since I switched her to NB LID, she's made HUGE strides and is living a better life.

Now about your Rock Star. Not sure if you already mentioned this or not, but have you thought about switching his brand of dog food? Reason I ask is because I am going through the same thing right now with Bella and the vet recommends we start by switching her food. Only difference between my dog and yours is Bella has had occasional vomiting. Others on here have had much success with this type of issue switching to Natural Blanace LID. I am going to start there.

My heart goes out to you, your husband, and Rock Star. You definitely have been handling many difficult issues. I hope things will get better for all of you. I would recommend changing foods as recommended by others. I also give Buster Jarrow Petdopholis as he had issues due to antibiotics and they recommended Acidopholis for help with yeast. Yes, I agree, if you haven't already try a high quality, holistic, limited ingredient food. After everything else you've mentioned that has been tested and tried that's failed, it's the only thing that stuck out to me in your posts (what specific food you did try). I'm sure you spent a ton of $$ already and this would be a not too expensive thing to try before opening your wallet wide for a dermatologist.

We have a Maltese who had itching problems on her feet. We switched foods several times, but it didn't help. We stopped taking her to the groomers and started washing her in Aveno baby shampoo. She's been fine since then. Do you take your dog to be groomed? Perhaps they use something that irritates her skin. I hope you and your puppy can start feeling better soon.

I definitely agree with taking the pup to a certified vet dermatologist. That sounds really serious.

Also check his food. Try foods that are TOTALLY grain free (Blue Buffalo Wilderness, lines of Avoderm, lines of Nature's Recipe and others I'm sure) and also trying foods with different types of protiens. I know some dogs are now allergic to chicken, fish, etc and even some foods will have broths or meals of those foods even if it isn't the same ingredient.

Stop giving him honey. It is not pasteurized and is not recommended for human infants, so I don't see where it would be good for a young puppy (from your other thread). Not good for any compromised immune system...

I will pray for you and your pup, I can't imagine what you're going through. Have they checked you out for any type of parasites? I would look into hyperbaric oxygen treatment and look into taking coconut oil (good for pups too).

And I hate to ask this, but is there any chance he has picked up something from you? Not trying to be rude or mean... just find it an odd coincidence that your cat was affected too, and everything environmental seems to have been eliminated (by moving). Do you have a relative or a friend you could temporarily rehome him with for a few weeks or so to see if his problems improve any?

If that doesn't work, I hate to suggest this too, but contact that Last chance animal rescue group out west, Best Friends Animal Society Home Page ... I've heard of two dogs that had untreatable allergies in the East US, but when they were sent out west, just the move to a different area helped them. They couldn't find out exactly what the dogs were allergic to, but the change to a drier climate helped them immensely.

And I would really think about not having a pet until your health problems are under control... there are things that we can pick up from them and until the doctors know what is going on with you, IMHO it would be safer for you and them...

Again, no harm intended at all, and I will keep you and your pup in my prayers for a quick, definitive diagnosis and even quicker recovery.

I have a simple solution that others have mentioned: Stop guessing and go to a veterinary dermatologist! Clearly your two vets have not figured out what is wrong. I believe a specialist will solve this problem.

chester is a itchy dog, I use salmon oil works well, I have now wash bedding or anything he is in contact with a extra rinse and use free and clear laundry soap and no dryer sheets or anything, no cleaners, no carpet powders and no plug in freshners, and his is envirmential mostly but change of soap will make him itch horribly, and it sounds like it is probably not food, good luck, hopefully maybe a second opinion will help, poor baby it is hard to watch them

I would take him back to the vet for another skin scraping. ... actually I would go to a dermatologist.
This might be Demodex mange?? I dont know...but it does present around the eyes.

OH.....I forgot I posted this. Have you looked for a derm yet????
