jobs, college, ect So I'm 17 years old (11th grade), and I've been thinking a lot about college. I want to stay very close to home, and maybe even live at home for college because we have schools close enough that it's maybe a 20 minute drive. I don't want to leave Mango haha. But if i do, my mom is always home to take care of him, and my sister will be too since she's in middle school. I originally and still want to study to become a fitness trainer and/or dietician. but the more i think about it, I could even be a groomer, I LOVE dogs, and fixing Mango's hair can keep me entertained for hours. I want to make sure I get an awesome job, one that pays well, and one that i will be happy with. (Both i would love). it would be very cool to me if I could even start my own grooming service, after college and all. But how would i go to school for grooming? is there a separate place to go? like not a "college" or what? Thanks for reading, haha feel free to give me your opinion :) |
There are grooming schools throughout the country. One popular place is Nash Academy. I think they have a few locations (we have a member that would know more about this). If I remember right, there is one in NJ and another in the KY/TN area. You could check their site. You could go to grooming school and get a degree. It's really all in what you want to do with your life and what you enjoy studying. Staring with a few classes at a local school to see what ends up being of interest to you may not be a bad idea. My choice out of those would definitely be a dietician, but that doesn't help you any. :) And I would go close to home unless I could take my dog with me. |
Thank you for your advice! I enjoy both equally so i don't know. I guess id go with whichever income is higher. |
Do you mean 'dietician' or 'nutritionist'? A groomer would make more money grooming show dogs... following the circuit around and actually grooming before the shows. Fitness trainer... like a personal trainer? Or maybe consider massage therapy (where people go after seeing their personal trainer). Best bet... discuss your interests with a college admissions advisor (maybe available at your HS). They can test you to see what profession you would be best at. http://www.google.com/search?q=dog+g...rchBox&ie=&oe= |
