What are the ages and health situations of each dog? Any recent stressful situations in the household? Get new toys or chewbones? Have you changed anything about their daily lives? We'd need a little more information. |

Below is a website that came up from googling. I know nothing about this website but it seems to support the pretty common knowledge that one dog will attack another that is displaying weakness in some way. If you will google "dog attacks sick dog" or something like that, you will find several hits and can read up on this. I've seen shows on television about similar situations in which a "weaker" dog can get attacked by another simply by demonstrating that it is weaker in some way or by sending out signals of fear, once it feels vulnerable. That could be what is going on here but whatever the reason it is happening, I think the corrective measures for that situation will still help. There is probably info on this site in the Library section about this also. 02 Aggression: When One Dog is Sick - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! Taking steps to take control of the situation from the aggressive dog with one of several corrective steps listed in these pieces can help keep the weaker dog safe and your home peaceful again. There will no doubt be many dog behaviorists here who have good ideas how best to get the situation in hand and I wish you luck with your babies. I know you hate to see one of them attacking the other but it sounds as if he is just reacting to his nature and needs you to learn how to step in and guide him away from this behavior, probably far harder to do than it sounds! I wish your little Peanut well with his seizures and hope Cooper can learn not to attack. Best of luck to you all and hugs from Tibbe and me. |
Thank you so much everybody, cooper and peanut r doin good. |
Cooper is your younger dog? I didn't see how old they were. Is Cooper viciously attacking Peanut or is he playing? It's hard to tell with the information provided. Of course, if ANY blood is being drawn; then you must intervene. Do they play together at all - wrestle, chase each other around?? |
