Chicken Broth So I wanted to buy some chicken broth to put on Gizmo's food, however I couldn't find any without any traces of onion. It either had onion or onion powder. Same with the organic chicken stock and chicken broth. any suggestions? |
Boil some chicken and make your own chicken broth. It won't have any onion, chemicals, or salt. |
I have a very large stainless steel pot. Each month I boil 3 or 4 chickens. I store the broth and chicmeat in the freezer. The canned broth is not really broth, but stock. Stock is made mostly from boiling all of the leftovers from a chicken, bones and such. That is why it is almost 99%fat free,it is also taste free. If you dont want as much fat in it,put it in the frig overnight and let the fat rise to the top so you can skim it off. I have a larger, older dog. I mix his kibble with chicken meat and rice made with chicken broth. This is the only way I can get him to eat. I don't know how good this would be for a tiny dog,but there are alot of experienced people on this forum that can help. |
What they said, I've just been using boneless skinless breasts though. I'm lazy sometimes too and buy it at the (health food) grocery store, organic, low sodium, free range, etc etc comes in a box though not a can, not sure that matters other than it has a much shorter shelf life without preservatives and has to be refrigerated. broth vs stock, mine prefer homemade so much more, with bits of chicken in it. (I prefer the cheaper option of making my own too) That's how I got mine to eat the mixed vegi bags (cauliflower broccoli carrots) without adding yogurt over it. Well and how I got Elvis to eat kibble period-he wanted only wet food when I first got him. |
