Very very sad Our little boy, Riley who is about 8 months old started limping about 2 weeks ago. We figured he was lightly injured and it would go away. It is now a few weeks later and he is not using the back leg well. His hip feels weird/ out of place. We took him to the doctor and they said to bring him back for xrays. COuld this be hip dysplasia? I never though something like that happened so fast and to such a young dog. he never seems to be in pain but he definitely feels it and shies away from using the leg. any ideas would be appreciated. |
If it's his hips, the first two things that come to mind are legg calve perthes and hip dysplasia. If it's the knees, then luxating patella and/or a torn CCL. He does need xrays and very likely a consult with an ortho surgeon. There is a chance that he is in a lot of pain even if not showing it, so it's pretty important to get a diagnosis soon. |
I cannot believe they told you to bring him back later, and didn't consider this an emergency...that's horrible veterinary service IMO. Definitely get the x-rays and let everyone know. |
He is the right age for Legg Calve Perthes...toys rarely have hips problems...insist on xrays now.. |
