I will send our Lab, Rusty to your house and viola! instant diet! He eats his food, Tucker's food, the cat food....poor Tucker is probably underfed. Any time I put out food for him I do it in the living room so I can watch him eat and he wolfs it down. If he walks away for a second Rusty comes out of no where and eats it. Tell your vet she's not fat, she's fluffy! |

She's voluptuous! That's what I tell Hallie all the time "you are voluptuous Hallie Ann, just like your mama" I also have a sign hanging above Hallie's food bowl that says "counting calories is hard when you can't count" |
I guess you could do what my mom and dad did. The first vet in Oklahoma said their yellow lab, Maggie, was fat. Mom and Dad took exception and changed vets. The second vet said the same thing. (Everyone says it because Maggie IS fat!) When we all moved to Arkansas Mom said she didn't want to have to deal with vets telling her Maggie is fat because my dad gives her so many treats and there's nothing my mom can do about it. So tongue-in-cheek I suggested she call around until she found a vet who would agree to write on Maggie's chart , "Do not mention obesity to owner." And she actually did it! The first time they took Maggie in to the new vet, the vet took the chart, read it and went out into the hall to ask one of the girls, "What is this?" But he has never mentioned it. Can you believe it? But fortunately, Dad has changed his ways -- without veterinary pressure -- and Maggie has lost over 10 lbs. and still losing. So you COULD ban the vet from the F word or the O word, but I wouldn't recommend it. |

I feed shelby twice a day. stopped the free feeding b/c she made me nuts...just picking at food all day until around 10 pm. then she was ready to party  Now it's 1/4 cup a.m. and I leave it down until noonish. then I take it away if she hasn't finished and feed her again at 4 or 5. she gets small treats in between...carrotts, green beans etc. I have noticed she is getting a little thick. she is short/small but seems thick around the middle a month after getting spayed. |
I free feed both of mine. But they only eat a few bites at a time. |
The one thing I found to help with Muffin was to take more walks and longer walks. More exercise helps to keep them in shape, too! :D Yes! The vet told me Muffin was fat, too! |
i leave food out all day. i also have 3 dogs and it is hard because if i did limit them then someone will go hungry.i dont want that to happen. |
Biscuit eats 1/2 cup a day in two feedings. This doesn't seem like much but that is what the vet told me to feed him.He gets lots of treats though especially since we're training. :D |
