A Little Dissappointed To congratulate my 2yr old daughter on successful potty training, I decided to buy her a Yorkie today (which she has wanted for months) however when Zola (puppy) went poopie we discovered she had worms. She has had her first set of shots but I'n concerned for the health of my daughter and the puppy. What can I use to cure this problem I a for sure taking her to the vet tomorrow!!! I just want some outside advice!! :confused: |
If you are seeing small white bits of worm like a grain of rice, that is likely tape worms (usually caused by ingesting fleas). It is quite easily cleared up with medication from the vet. Don't try the over the counter products from drug stores or pet stores, it doesn't work that well. Check for fleas too, and treat if necessary. |
A 2 year old wanted a Yorkie for months? Becareful with the pup, and your daughter. The pup may nip, and your daughter many drop it, especially since some adults seems to have a hard time holding these little dogs. Best of luck with the worms. |

Worms are pretty common in young pups. Just go to vet and get a de-wormer, it's easily taken care of. Also, how big is this Yorkie? A tiny Yorkie pup is not usually a good match for a 2year old. I know my boy is 16lbs (big for a Yorkie) and we live with a 3 year old (she was 1 when we got him) and they really do love each other but still have to watched at ALL times as she could get rough with him. |

Wow most kids are barely talking at 2 and yours managed to ask for a Yorkie. I think you wanted the Yorkie and were using your daughter as a ventriloquist dummy to convince yourself to get one hahahahaha. When I got Teegy my breeder gave me 72 hours to get a vet check done and if there was any issues she would take him back. I feel you should do the same, did your breeder provide you with the health information and innoculations of your pup. They ususally just give a dewormer and they are fine |

I hope I hope this is a bad April Fools Joke......... No Yorkie puppy should have to go through what this one will endure at the hands of a 2 yr old. As other poster said.... the first time the puppy nips the 2 year old the puppy will get the blame and be punished........ And if this is true,,,,,,, she probably bought the Yorkie at a Pet Store. |

The only thing that I can find wrong with this post is if the OP is playing an April Fool's joke or trying to ruffle feathers here intentionally. That being said, IF this story were true it sounds like she wanted the puppy more so than a two year old (only makes sense). So, if she truly has come here for worm in the poo advice, she has already recieved some. Please just take the puppy to the vet and get a fecal, etc and they will be able to assist you further. Also, just because you have small children does not mean a Yorkie will endure a life of pain or neglect that has been implied. Are there increased risks, obviously. I have small children as do many people on here and some pregnant, and our Yorkies are just as happy, healthy and protected as someone without such. JMO....... |
Whatever you do, just separate the pup and the kiddo until the pup has gone to the vet and the worms are totally treated and gone. I'd be keeping the puppy's things away from the child also. Some worms that dogs carry (round in particular, I think) can cause blindness in children. Please separate them immediately until this is taken care of. |
Fecal sample (put it in a bag as soon as you get one and take it to the vet) Panacor and the vet...hmm my daughter spoke in complete sentences at 10 months...she got a Yorkie after she was 10 years old...because ultimately even though my 11 year old has a Yorkie, my 6 year old has a Schnorkie and Dad has a Miniature Schnauzer...they are all my dogs... |
