Puppy Grooming needs?
 
Ok so I am just wondering if there are any special grooming products I may need while my Yorkie is young? What sort of diet should she be on?
Also, I wanted to find out the best way to help her grow mentally?

I would start with a soft bristle brush (I use a cat brush) just to get them use to being touched and handled. Groom a couples of times a week will help.

Might want to think about a good quality puppy food. No free feeding ( I learned that the hard way) Stick to scheduled feedings, not sure on portions. Check the packaging or ask your vet.

Now for mental stability... Please do not talk baby talk to you Yorkie ! In my opinion that does nothing for the dog. It hinders training and is just plain annoying. It is only for the benefit of the human. (I hope that I didn't hurt any feeling in the YT community) But you did ask.

Use Bio-groom fluffy puppy shampoo...it's a soapless, tearless shampoo. I use an Isnis brush......also use a small facial comb to come around the eyes....don't take chances using a brush as you can scratch the eyes.

Oh! you'll need a personal trimmer...such as a Whal Peanut....to keep those pads free of hair (real important so they don't slip and slide and cause a knee injury) and trimming the ears.

A pair of kitty nail clippers to trim the tips of those nails and a pair of baby manicure scissors for trimming around the bum.....and keeping those little paws trimmed in a rounded look.....

Oh if you plan a topknot....small bands and band scissors.

A good puppy diet for the first year of her life. A good quality food that she'll eat.

Change out her toys frequently so she doesn't get bored....play ball with her.....spend time with her to keep her mind active.

Free feeding is actually best when puppies are young, it helps keep their blood sugar regulated.

And baby talk has no effect on their training whatsoever.

I would make sure that any shampoo you get is tearless and made to be used on dogs/puppies. There are a lot of good brand puppy foods out there but if you switch there food from what they are on now make sure you do it gradually or they may get tummy problems. They make a lot of toys where they have to work to get the treat or food out and that might be something to mentally stimulate them also start working on commands for a set amount of time everyday or even do a puppy class. Good luck with your new puppy :D

Free feeding is normally best for pappies also some dogs do better being free feed. Talking baby talk to you dogs doesn't do any damage dogs like to be talked to weather its baby talk or regular talk.
