Going back to work.. worried about Gizmo I am going to be going back to work in 2 weeks or so. I haven't worked since we got him. I will be working 3, 8 hour shifts. During one of those shifts my husband should be home. I am worried about Gizmo being left alone for 6 hours for two of my shifts. ( Hubby will be home for the first 2 hours of my shift then he goes to work also) I am going to try and come home during my lunch since my job is only 5 minutes away. How long does do you leave your baby for? Im being a worrisome mommy! |
How old is Gizmo? Have you ever let him alone at home before? Do you have a playpen? I think it is safer to let him in it with his favourite toy, snack & pee-pad. |

I leave my babies a max of 7 hours at one time. For instance, today, I went to school at 9AM and came home at 12:30PM to feed them and let them go potty and left at 1:30PM. Then I had to leave again, I came home at 5:30PM, but usually around 7-8PM is when I come home. This happens on Tuesdays because I'm super busy. Other days, they don't stay home by themselves as long. They do fine, but I feel bad though :( I try my best to come home at least every 6 hours. They get they weekend energy let out at the parks and on walks. |
I work a few days a week and leave Ginger in a playpen with her bed, food, toys & food/water for 6-7 hours. So far she has been fine...of course, she is super excited to see me when I get home :D |
My Gizmo is 4 yrs old now, but when I first got him it was rough leaving him to go to work, I would leave him in a large cage with food water and line the cage with potty pads, he did fine. After about 4 months on fridays he would go to day care down the street from my job, because that was my late day, now he gets the run of the house but I am home eveyday but if I leave without him which is rare, he does fine as a matter of fact sometimes he will let me know he would rather stay home, when I put his carrier down and say lets go bye bye, he will either get inside or jump up in the reclyner and curl up.. It i gonna take time but he will be fine:animal37 |
dayorkiemania: Gizmo is 10 months old now. I do have an exercise pen i set up for Gizmo when i leave and it put a bed, his toys, pee pad and food and water just incase. Cowgirlc: thats so funny that your Gizmo will tell you if he would rather stay home!!! Thanks everyone for the replies im just being a worried mommy and i know that when i go out for a few hours he doesnt eat or go potty he holds it till i get home. Which i wanna make sure he doesnt do since he already had one UTI ( he had it when we got him). |
