My Yorkie doesn't blink her eyes Is it unusual for Yorkies to not blink their eyes very often? Macy has always had wet fur on the side of her face since she was a puppy. I have tried every kind of food and bottled water thinking this may be the cause but with no success - still a wet face. It was windy a couple of days ago and we went for a walk. When we got home her fur under her eyes was wet and her eyes were watery and didn't think too much about it. Today I was watching her as she was sitting beside me for about 5 minutes and she never blinked her eyes. I don't think I missed a couple of blinks because I was staring at her. If she does blink it isn't very often. Is this normal? |
I'm no expert but I literally just picked Roxy up and started chatting with her just to see how often she blinks and it's pretty steady. I would say she blinks about as much as I do. I giggle at the image of you having a staring contest with your baby, but yea that would kind of freak me out too. :P |
Hmmm, I'm not sure how much Zhoie blinks, but now I'm gonna look as soon as she wakes up. I'm thinking it will have to wait until tomorrow, she's appears sacked out for the night, :D. |
I sound like I don't have a life don't I? I am wondering if her face is wet because her eyes water because she doesn't blink that often. I can give her a bath in the morning and later on in the afternoon I look at her and she has wet fur on the outside of her eye down her check. It's always the same strands of fur that are wet. |
I would get her in for a vet check-up to see what is going on. Maybe her eyes are watering since she has no blink relfex or something. I wonder without blinking how much lubrication she is getting on the cornea? Whatever it is, I don't think that much eye watering ono the face is normal so something might be wrong. |
I was thinking the same thing. All this time I was thinking it might be a food or water allergy but it may have something to do with her eyes watering because she doesn't blink that often. |
Ok now you have all of us getting outr babies and staring at them to see if they blink. Well mine are "steady blinkers" as well. Hmmmmm, I really never heard of that. Maybe it would be a good idea to check it out with the vet! |
Ok, so I checked Zhoie out today and yes, she is a blinker, pretty regular too. |
