Is anyone else's yorkie as silly as mine? lol Ok, everytime I give Mosh a treat he never eats it right away. He holds it in his mouth, then he throws it around in the air and chases it and pretends to sneak up on it. This goes on for about 10 or 15 minutes before he actually eats it! lol It's really entertaining to watch but I was just wondering if anyone else's yorkie does this or if Mosh just has a really silly sense of humor? lol I'm gonna try to post a video if I can figure out how... |
That is so cute! :) It means he is so happy and healthy! Good for you! :) As long as he doesn't get into trouble with the furnitures and the neighbors. My yorkie is not that active, he's only 5 months, I wonder if he'll ever be as cool as that. I haven't noticed anything unique from his behavior. |
Sometimes mine do that with their kibble....they toss it, hunt it...pounce on it....then repeat sometimes till eaten. They don't do this very often though...hmmm. |
That sounds so cute! Not mine though. I have to toss his squirrel or ball to get him to eat. He fetches a few times then goes over to his bowl to take a few bites. More fetch, then more food. He's so silly! |
Mosh sounds so cute. He's really enjoying all the benefits he can from that treat and making it last! My Tibbe scarfs his treat down as fast as he gets one. He treats his chewies as your Mosh does his treats - carrying it around in his mouth, playing with it, etc. |
Yeah, he does it every time I give him a treat and he does it very often with his dry food, also. He will go to his bowl and pick up one piece and start playing with it. I have to say the funniest is when he throws it, sneaks up on it, and pounces on it like it's gonna run away from him. Like I said, I'll catch it on video next time and try to post it on here! |

Ruby does this with her dry food. She does not play with her treats, she inhales those. |
Callie will do this. She throws bones a lot and toys. Sometimes she will walk around with the bone looking for somewhere to hide it and cry sometimes if she cant find where she wants to hide it. |

YES!! Mocha does that too!! :) sooo cute. At first when he started doing it at about 5 months old, I thought he doesnt like the treats anymore...then I realized he wants to chase/sneak up on it/play with it/hit it w his paws:love:..ugh so adorable. Im so glad you posted this. |

:D So cute !!! Mine do silly things like that, but it's usually to tease me. Like when they go outside and find a rock or a stick :eek: They toss it in the air, show it to me, like saying "look what we got mommy, are you scared???" and run away prancing. I think they love to hear me scream, OMG! GIVE TO MOMMY, GIVE!!! While I run after them like a mental patient :p After they give it to me and my heart goes back to normal, I think it's soooo cute ;) |

Hahaha I'm so glad you posted this! Mine does the saaame thing!! At first I thought it was because he didn't like the flavor of the treat, but I think he just likes to play with them! He'll either take it or just start hopping around it so I'll toss it (like a toy) to him and he'll throw it around, hop around it, lunge at it then finally eat it :p I should take a video next time, its too funny! |

I hope Sophie does that :) It sounds like a blast both for the puppy and the owner. How old was your Yorkie when they started playing like this? My lil Sophie is about 15 weeks. |
Oh, I can't recall as Tibbe was 9 mos. old when I got him and did not know what "play" was. I suppose in his case he found out about playing and then "baiting" after I had had him a week or so as he was very wild at first. My Jilly was 4 1/2 mos. old when I got her and she came here playing very well and I think she baited me to play with her after a day or so here. I think a Yorkie is practically born learning how to bait a human to play and compete with it for a toy, treat or chewie! |

Yes, my Yorkie does this all the time with treats, carrots, broccoli etc. He will toss it in the air, jump at it....play hide and seek with it....we just laugh at him all the time. He is almost a year old. My daughter dog sat for us when we were on vaca....and she thought he was such a trip. He is just hilarious. Our first Yorkie and we never had a dog that acted like he does. |
