Carpet cleaner I'm looking for a new carpet cleaner. My Bissell attachment quit spraying, and the hose on my spot bot cracked. I've read through some old threads but I haven't found one shampooer that didn't have mixed reviews when I researched them. Also, each brand makes so many versions of the same machine. How do you know if the extra money is worth spending? I want one that will clean and not leave my carpets so wet. My current Bissel doesn't have brushes that move. Is that something I want in my next cleaner? If you don't have one you recommend is there one you would stay away from? |
Recently I started having a problem with our Hoover Carpet Cleaner. The brushes stopped working. The hand held attachment works. I just replaced the water/carpet shampoo tank this past summer. And not about to put more $$$ into this. Two weeks ago, I went to Kohl's. Carpet cleaners were on sale, had 30% discount I could use in addition to sale price and also Kohl's cash. So, I bought another Hoover Carpet Cleaner. Saved $100.00 with the discount. And received $40.00 in Kohl's cash. I used the new carpet cleaner this week. I do like it. But there are things I miss with my other carpet cleaner. I used to own Bissell carpet cleaners in the past. None of them ever lasted very long. This Hoover carpet cleaner has lasted much longer. I have owned this one for 6 -7 years. I used it when I used to own my Townhouse that I rented out to tenants. And also have used it for our home and cleaning my van. The new Hoover I purchased also has an attachment that can clean hard flooring, in addition to cleaning carpeting. Since we are having new flooring installed soon, this may be nice to have. I use a steam mop for cleaning bathroom floors and I love it! Hope my review is of some help. Sharon |

I have had this Bissell for three years and love it. The only downside to me is having to change the reservoir more often than I did on my old cleaner (a hoover i think, can't remember now but it wasn't bissell. But it cleans up easily, has a nice stairway/ and corner attachment and imo, cleans the carpet very well! There are good and not so good reviews here ![]() |
I have the All-Terrain from Hoover. I like the carpet cleaner; it doesn't leave the carpet soaked, and does well with getting stains out. I am not too impressed with the floor scrubber, though. It leaves the floor wet. |
I know there are a million and one great cleaners out there but I found out (the hard way) many only mask dog urine...weather it be from spraying or just on their feet from coming in...and many are scented in such a way some dogs then want to spray or mark over them. I believe a steam cleaner is the best and safest way to clean-not to mention water is the cheapest thing out there (my son also has dust mite and other allergies so we love steam now) removing smell not masking them. I have started using the Arm & Hammer Carpet & Fabric Pet Fresh Odor Eliminator spray-it's usually on the pet isle (not the urine remover) it leaves a slight baking soda scent at first then is gone, it's the cheapest option I've seen, doesn't just mask odors but eliminates them, is safe for our allergies adn for our pets ...geez they need to send me some coupons or samples for the endorsements LOL! |
We only have a small section of carpet as we are switching to wood floors, cork flooring and vinyl completely...so I use the Oreck... |

I recently gifted a German Shepherd puppy to my wife on her birthday , my wife is really happy with me but after bringing him the major problem which we both have to face is Carpet Cleaning . 1 or 2 times I cleaned my carpet from carpet cleaning services but they charge so much and the cleaning is not satisfactory . So at last I decided to buy a carpet cleaning machine but as I don't know much about it so it is also a risk so I just checked google and find reviews from these sites Consumer Reports Online Recipe Ideas, Product Reviews, Home Decor Inspiration, and Beauty Tips - Good Housekeeping Best Carpet Shampoo Guide - Carpet Shampoo Guide and I decided to buy this one Bissell 3624 SpotClean Professional Portable Carpet Cleaner Attachment 408696 From Amazon.com in $120 It is a deep cleaner and also fits in budget . I also search many threads but not getting the solution .I hope you will also find a good one from this reviews sites . And to all my friends M ' waiting for your advice's. Have a Nice day Regard's Alvin |

Have you considered just getting the replacement parts for the broken pieces? |

A few months back I picked up a Rug Dr portable. It has a pretty large reservoir and wheels. The brush part can spin or not, switch is on the handle. I will say that I was looking for an upright and kinda went with it as I was worried about another one breaking down and certainly couldn't spring for a full size Rug Dr, but this portable is amazing. The suction is so dang strong on it. I wouldn't recommend it for large areas, but anything under 4x4 you could quickly and easily cover. It's by far stronger then the two uprights I owned. Good luck in your search! |
Five year old post, but she may need another new by now :D |
