Scared... Carmel was a BAD boy! He somehow went to the bathroom and brought the ant killer small container onto my bed. I FREAKED out. I'm worried that anything will happen to him...he seems fine so far. He's actually SUPER active right now. He got a GOOD teeth brushing for doing that. Luckily, it doesn't look like he chewed the center, where the toxins are. He just bit the corner a bit. :( I will update on his progress in the morning. |
Oh no! I bet you had a rough night trying to sleep after something like that! I hope he is ok!:( |
oh no! i wouldn't have been able to sleep either! hope everythings ok! |
I hope he's okay! |
You did not call a vet or poison control??? :( |

Glad that all is well! :) |
I'm glad he's OK. They can really give us a scare!! |
So glad he is ok! These little ones will scare the life out of you sometimes. |
So glad everything turned out good!! Little stinker!! |
I would probably still be at the vet's sitting there with Tibbe in his carrier just in case, as they would have forced me to leave the treatment room this long after nothing happening. |
Make sure you gather any remaining ant poison boxes up and dispose of them properly. You cannot use ant bait, roach motel type insecticides, or D-con mouse poison boxes when you have pups like ours around! They are too curious. I would get the number of Poison Control: ASPCA | Animal Poison Control Center near your phone. (888) 426-4435 They MAY charge you a $65 fee. Still better to get expert info any time of day or night! I would also get the # to the nearest 24-hour emergency vet clinic nearest you. They may answer some question over the phone for free or they might just say to bring them in -- still better safe than sorry. |

Nothing happened to Carmel. He have been totally fine. Thank goodness. From now on, I will be more cautious to never let this happen again! |
Thank you for posting because it is stories like this that just remind us to watch them a little closer. I am so glad your baby is fine. |
I don't think you had anything to worry about... That stuff is SO noxious, that if he had gotten even one drop in his mouth, he would have bolted away from it as quick as he could. |
Glad everything is okay, consider this in the future: Pyrethrum, the ingredient found in many flea control products, also kills ants. To increase the killing power, mix 1 tbsp. of rubbing alcohol into a commercial pyrethrum spray. Diamtomaceous Earth Are There Ant Killers That Are Not Harmful to Dogs? | eHow.com |
