You Did WHAT With that mouth?!? Princess has passed by most of her destructive chewing, with a few exceptions of course, but i couldn't be happier that time is over!! she has chewed CD's, printer cords, cell phone chargers, a laptop charger, corners of the walls & carpet!! even the crib my dad made my daughter for her american girl doll--he made that out of a cradle he made for me at birth!:thumbdown so what kind of destructive mayhem has your baby done? maybe this thread can help us vent, feel better that we're not alone,:p or even feel lucky that our "damage" wasn't to the same extent as others! |
venetian blinds...thats all....but it was enough!!! lol:):) |
Laptop cord, Xbox 360 cord, carpet, underwear stolen from the dirty clothes basket (yuk!), socks galore, lots of flip flops --these seem to be her favorite! We had all been in the habit of kicking off our flip flops at the door. We tried to retrain ourselves but occasionally would forget. All it would take was a second and she would have the part that goes between the toes chewed through, making them instantly useless! I am mostly describing my late Sadie, bless her heart -- she was the chewer to beat all chewers. Ben was not bad and Annie has not been a problem with chewing things up at all. Not sure what makes one chew more than another but they are all different. |
lol The dreaded underwear stealer!!! yes, we have three of thoes!!! |
Toes, shoe laces, my slippers, wood chips, my grandmother's lazy boy, the inside of his pet carrier curse, his crate, attempted to chew on Momma's furniture but got snapped at, fingers, Momma's polka dot comfy pants...Yeah little booger is teething lol. |
I can honestly say that Jack has never chewed anything he wasn't supposed to have. He is a good boy! And of course, has me wrapped around that little paw of his.... |
I can say I have only had 3 of mine when they were puppies and not one of them ever chewed on any thing at all. I kept waiting for it to happen and it never did. I guess I was very lucky. |
Bailey...phone cords, I bet she chewed 20 or more...I would think I had it puppy proof...WRONG. Bella...DH and I call her our chewing machine ;) she has chewed a small fortune in shoes, hand bags, remote controls, the corner of my china cabinet , my wicker patio set (the legs) Cell phone chargers, xbox hand controller...oh the list could go on..... Harley...not so much on my stuff and he is 6 mos old  shocker I know but, he is not a big fan of chewing unless its a bully stick or his toys (good boy) He will shred paper like paper shredder tho.:D |
Neither of mine were very destructive at all, but... I use some "Training Cords", one two wire Lamp Cord, and the other is a Coaxial Cable (about 6 ft each). When I get a new puppy, i lay the cords out on the floor, they're kinda wadded up, just like they would be behind a couch or table. Every time the new guy approaches them he gets a strong NO. Doesn't take long for him to get the idea, and, this is done at MY leisure, not his ! Other than that, new guys are in a restricted area, where there are no other cords available, and I pick the cords up when I'm not trying to train. I do the same thing with shoes. Make sure you do have proper Chew Toys available, and praise him when he chooses the right thing to chew. |

Pebbles Underwear = Dog treat  She will pull them out of the laundry basket and hide them in her crate to savor the flavor. YUCK :sickie: Doodlebug Loves to kill it. My little sweetie will chew a small hole in any stuffed toy and within second there will be stuffing everywhere. Then he will rip little pieces from the destuffed toy....rip, rip, rip Bogey :littleang Nuff said :p |
Also...(darn the 5 minute edit rule) or I would have added this to my last post... Dogs generally see in only three colors... Yellow, Blue and Grey (varying intensities of each) You might select his Chew Toys of only one of those colors... Just a thought. |
My Princess Monster: everything yours does (my cell phone was loverly until she killed it because it vibrated!) plus she eats all my left shoes...no serious only the left ones-either my feet vary in smell or she's showing off how intelligent, evil spiteful she really is. She had a real affinity for plastic and wooden kids toys too...worked great...kids pick up their stuff and put it away now! She's finally out of the phase and only attacks the recycling now bringing me empty milk cartons to show she could eat it... Elvis never has chewed or eaten anything but stuffies. Scoobers earned the nickname Boobers because he would eat (get his) only the center string between cups on my you-know-whats and then leave them alone, previous to that he had a strange fetish only eating white socks..no really he'd leave the grey toes and heel one's along just the all white ones had to die...he also had issues with wood and once ate a bar of black berry soap...doesn't do any of that now he's not a pup...but he will still freak on anything squeaky-will rip the squeaker out immediately and be done with it. |
Oh I forgot Princess Monster will also kill any grooming supplies she can get her mouth on...my wooden boars hair brushes, the pedipaw, the other dog's harnesses...she was really bad she'd grab it an run in the yard to chewy..."the snatch and run game" |
Home Theater Cables (DH was devastated), Laptop Cords, Carpets, Shoes :( and bra's - he's a guy afterall |

I have Skandia wooden office furniture in the room Maci and Lily are in with me all day, Maci bites the edges of the wood and she is slowly learning its a no, no! Maci has chewed my vertical blinds, you can see tiny little teeth holes on the bottoms when the light shines thru. |
2 laptop cords, some underwear, a book jacket but the real killers is he is now up to 9 or 10 destroyed water bottles the last two he had water in his bowl in the bedroom I have no idea why he did it |
So this morning I'm off doing kid drop off at school and the boy (the 30 year old one) is here...Princess Monster thinks she's been left home alone... She apparently (in the 5 minutes I was gone) took the remotes off my desk, my mouse, dropped them in front of the front door and dumped the recycling over and spread it so if someone opened the door they'd sweep it with the door...Dad heard the commotion and came out to catch her doing it all! I swear she knew I posted on how she was doing so much better and had to make a liar out of me! Go figure! |
LOL All of these are funny. Jack never was much a chewer of anything till I got the temptor JOSIE. She has taught him to chew cabinet corners, chair corners and even their bedding. I finally got them some chewy things. I still have problems with Josie. She finds the most interesting things. I had some tape down on the floor where the carpet and tile met till they come back and put the "thresh hold" (?) in. I even had a rug over it and guess who found it. Yep Josie, then Jack says oh that looks like fun. Cabinets are fixed again now that are past their biggest chew stage. But yes, we still have to keep closet door closed in an instant they will be sitting in laundry basket digging out those undies. And I have found them everywhere. Carzy kids! |
Neo, in his almost 2 years of life has chewed/destroyed: speaker cable (more times than I can count) lamp cord cords to shark steam mop, Kirby vacuum cleaner (less than 2 weeks old), cord to floor fan carpet at threshold to sun room shredded enough paper to make a Hollywood movie featuring a blizzard socks, underwear, plastic lids from coffee mugs Connor, in his 1 year of life (as of today!) has chewed/destroyed: our formal dining room suite--decorative trim on 3 chairs, legs of table carpet at threshold to sun room (adding to Neo's work) every stuffed toy he and Neo own (chewing until stuffing and squeeker is out) window sills |
these are all funny. expensive, but funny. i forgot princess chewed the vertical blinds, ten strips, the complex already informed me that will be $70.00. she loves to shred paper, kleenex, cotton balls, & t.p...and if i'm not fast enough she will eat it! one of the funnier things she chewed was the corded game controller while my daughter was playing it, i came home & my daughter was furious yet i couldn't stop laughing. i still "throw it in her face"...she literally did it right in front of her! oh the joys of puppyhood...leading to yorkiehood! the great thing about it is my house has never been cleaner & more organized! thanks you lil $hirt! lol. |
Bella is such a chewer! Her favorite thing to chew is our hands! Grr! She also loves to chew the carpet (where it meets the tile...we're renting a condo and boy are we going to have to replace the carpet!), the wall corners (she's eatten the paint off one spot), boxes, paper, and kitty litter! |
With 4 potential *chewers* in the house I don't know who does what, but the list of destruction includes: underwear (until I got trained to keep out of reach), many many pairs of reading glasses from my desk, several pens, a few cds, Barbies hands & feet, the legs on my office chair, and Meika's fetish is hard eyes from any stuffed animal. Now that they are almost 2 & 3 yrs. old, they are much less destructive (and we are better trained NOT to leave stuff in reach). |
