I believe only a brain dead moron would sell a 1 pound dog, and only a brain dead idiot would want to buy one. As far as that suck FB page, there are all of 4 bitter individuals posting there because their sales have dried up. Don't even bother wasting your time to read what the same 4 people are saying, unless you need a good laugh. They continue to make themselves look stupid with each post, each rant. Would anyone with an IQ higher than borderline moron want to buy from anyone of them?

An excellent perspective to take on it all!

Rhetts_mama 03-23-2011 09:46 AM

Endotracheal tubes come in different sizes, as do IV needles. Vets are well trained in intubating small animals, they spay/neuter rabbits, rats and the like. But like anything, practice makes perfect. Anyone with a tiny would do well to make sure they have a vet that deals with these little ones on a regular basis.

It sounds cruel now, but when I was learning to intubate preemies, we were taken to a vet clinic and practiced our techniques on little kittens that all weighed well under 500 grams (less than a pound).

Sorry....had to go rescue Tibbe didn't finish:

I hope you are right! Trouble is, so many women now think this is "cute" that it has to be taken seriously.

See? That is kind of the point with these tiny dogs. With a full grown dog this tiny one has to use a puppy, kitten or rabbit tube to anesthetize it!!!! Otherwise, you couldn't even put it to sleep using regular small dog equipment! And implants for total joints - wonder what they have to use for one of these? Maybe since they make special size sweathers and collars for them, some manufacturer makes tiny total joint implants, too. I'll bet one of those 1 lb. grown Yorkies would have trouble climbing my Tibbe's dog steps.

Mary,
Did you see that your avatar picture, with your name "Mardelin Yorkshire Terriers" was posted on this page? It's used as a thumbnail beside a post (dated March 3, 2011) where they criticize the YT thread you were helping on with kas and the pregnant dog. You may be aware of this already, but just in case you hadn't seen it, and want it removed, I thought I'd mention it.

Whoever these people are on YTS were indeed stealing pics, touting that they could because the pics weren't copywrited. Little did they know that some pictures were and appropriate steps were taken...

I understand. It's just such nonsense. You would think they are naive kids or something.

i can't believe the web site...i just sent them an email asking them to stop this awful breeding.

Since the FB page is pretty much about me I have responded here:

I hope that everyone reads my response and that YT allows the truth to finally be see for what it is. Nothing but a great big pack of lies! These women need to stop their harassment and get a life~!

Justrunningthru 03-23-2011 12:54 PM

Is it me or do they look like they came from

inbreeding or the breeding of carriers of the dwarf gene? Either way, that cannot be health. None of those poor pups even look like their breed, they all have the same sickly look to them :-(. That is horrible!

I wanted a TINY BABY...I didnt care the expense, just wanted a tiny one. I DID NOT do any research on the breed, just thuoght yorkies were sooo cute. I googled teacups and Micro....everyhting you DONT do! I found a website offering two babies that were to be 2 pounds full grown. I drove 10 hours to pick up the feamle baby. When I got there, someone had beat me to her and her little brother was left. He was soooo little at 10 weeks. I fell in love. Today, Bevo is 2 1/2 years old. He stayed small (under 1 pound) until after he was a year old. Today, he weighs a big 4.5 pounds. I am so thankful he didnt stay teeny as he was "money back guaranteed to be". I now know how horrible this is. He is actually EXACTLY the size I had always dreamed of if not smaller. I cannot imagine owning a 2 pound dog. He is sooo very little even now. But, what I am getting at, is I can see the appeal to the other ignorant people out there. I was willing to pay anything for my dream dog...now I know better. I just wish there was a way to educate the public potential yorkie moms and dads of what a terrible mistake they may be making by buying these pitifull pups. I got lucky....too many more will not!

 Even if healthy, God forbid they do get sick, vetting a tiny is very difficult. Getting IV's in their tiny veins, drawing blood, even getting a thermometer in their tiny butts is difficult. And, they have such fragile resistance at such a tiny size.

MyTrixie143 03-23-2011 08:13 PM

Those poor little babies!! I can't understand how one can be so cruel. My girls are 5lbs and are still very small to me and worry me enough;I just can't imagine breeding one any smaller that is like 3lbs. They truly don't care about their well being breeding that small.

I do see the appeal of a small dog but not one that is only 1lb. My Hershey is 3lbs (not bred for size, he just stayed small) and is the smallest I would ever want as you constantly have to be careful with them and worry about the slightest thing. I just can't see how a 1lb dog could live a normal life as a dog and they should have that right.

Sometimes I wonder if people really know how small a 1lb dog really is. Years ago when I first heard of "teacups" I met a lady who had a teacup chihuahua that was only 1lb if that. He was prancing around his owners foot and I remember being so scared she might accidentally squish him by just moving her foot.

update: i sent her an email last night stating that she stole pictures from Mina. She responded back and apologized that her web designer took cute puppy pictures and uploaded and will take it down immediately...

what bunch of excuses!
I wrote her back stating that if its a website of business you should use your own pictures because every picture int he world is copy righted and you have no right to take a picture off of a website even google and post it as your own.

Had my co worker check over my korean spelling. We'll see if she does take it down. I told her she has 24 hours.

Why are you so quick to judge? I would not want such a tiny dog myself, but it is my understanding that Gina is VERY selective about whom she allows to purchase one of these pups. The market she sells to is well defined: very rich girls who will pamper these pooches every second of the day! Included in her requirements is a promise to keep the dogs on MyBeau Exceed, an extraordinary animal vitamin product that boosts immunity and health. It has been embraced in its home country of NZ, and in Korea, where Gina is from. Unfortunately, it not very well known here in the US yet. These little dogs are not for just anyone, but I don't believe it is abusive in any way. She screens buyers very carefully.

Ah! Once again, first post supporting horrible breeding practices. Capitlizing on tinies.....

Very rich girls that haven't a clue about what detriment is being done these dogs. Putting tinie's lives in jeaporady.

Boosting immunity health.....will do nothing to help little heads that are too small, or prevent Liver Shunt.

IsabelleOllie 03-24-2011 08:16 AM

My little Belle is 4lbs and thank goodness still growing. She seems tiny to me, I can't imagine a 1lb dog!

Please read all of the posts in this thread and others about the many, many perils in the breeding, pregnancy, whelping, infancy and life of these ultra tiny dogs and then search this site for "teacups" and read some more. Search the internet and do more research. You will quickly get your answer as to why people who love the Yorkshire Terrier judge those who breed for anything other than health, full function and conformation to a standard that produces a quality, happy dog. Regarding potential buyers, I think that most reputable breeders want their dogs to go to responsible and loving homes where they can live a healthy and happy dog's life and not that of a status symbol or fashion accessory. If you will do your due diligence in researching "teacups", I think you, too, will understand why so many people here are against this type of breeding and selling practices.

What is MyBeau Exceed and is that a product you sell ? If so, you need to be a donating member and pay for your advertising space like the rest of us vendors. I don't believe in any supplement that is not specifically recommended by a board certified veterinary nutritionist.

Your kidding right? Yorkies are meant to be dogs not fashion accessories for rich girls

MyBeau Girl 03-24-2011 08:52 AM

You aren't even basing your opinions on the real facts!

Even the name of this thread is only meant to slander, not present the real facts. Most of the teacups sold by PoshFairy Tail are estimated to be about 2.5 lb when full-grown. Where did you get the "under 1 lb." ?????

If you would look at the website yourself, you would see that these are raised to be "healthy teacups" as opposed to the teacups with health problems that are common due to unscrupulous breeders only interested in money. I really do believe that Gina raises healthy dogs. :aimeeyork

And yet you choose to show your baby in a Barbie car? Why are you judging others for something you are happily doing yourself?

The word Teacup is in of itself a marketing ploy.......Read the standard...The Yorkshire Terrier is a Toy dog.

Your touting about unscrupulous breeders only interested in breeding for money, I would think PoshFairy Tail is just that. The prices she charges is well in excess of what a top quality show dog from escellent lines goes for.....

If you aren't a breeder or even if you are, you are spouting off incorrect information. Breeding tiny females and putting their lives on the line. By the way one of the ways to obtain tinies is to inbreed......

Study up on breeding, go to the YTCA pages, they together with the AKC set the standard......

Teacups come with saucers and handles, they are not dogs.

It's pretty obvious her dog was a pup at the time and not an undersized, unhealthy, fully grown dog.
