Going on vacation.... hey everyone.... we are leaving in a week for a trip to the Dominican Republic for a week...:). We are starting to feel anxiety for leaving our pup for the week....:aimeeyork. She is going on 15 weeks and she has been doing pretty good lately on the pee pad training. She will be staying at my parents who have 2 dogs already (Chiwawa, Shih tzu) and they do get along good the few times we had them together. We are worried she will lose all the training we have done for the past while when we are gone. Is that gonna happen? My parents are being instructed as to what we have been doing and how to take care of her but we are worried. Add the fact that we are gonna miss her dearly...... At least we will have her to look forward to when we get home right? I guess the biggest thing is that we don't want to have to start over with her for the training. Will she act different in this new surrounding for the week? Thanks |
I passed up a trip to Punta Cana with a group of friends this month because I had a new puppy and didn't want to leave her. Friends just got back thursday & are posting pics of the gorgeous beach, swimming with dolphins, kissing seals, & dune buggy rides....now I'm kicking myself in the butt for not going  My pup would have stayed with my parents too, I know she would have been fine while I was gone...I'm the one with the problem. Your puppy will be fine with your parents and probably enjoy being with the other dogs. The other dogs might reinforce proper potty training even...but if training slips a little, just get right back at it when you return and be diligent about it. Enjoy your vacation!!! It looks absolutely beautiful there. :) |
Oh, I would relax and enjoy your trip. Whatever she might lose in potty training, she will pick back up on once you return and re-establish her routine. And with that baby to come home to, it won't be so bad when the vacation is over. Have fun! Please some pictures when you get back!!! |
Try and go and have a good time. She will be fine even if she regresses a little you can come back relaxed and ready to continue her training. I never wanted to go away and leave my baby/babies and my poor DH and DD never got to go on vacations. Then 2 summers ago I felt I had to take a trip with DH. I left my 4 with my 25 year old and had a great time. We have been on several trips since and going again in 2 weeks. They all do fine and we are glad to see each other when we get back. |

Honestly, when I left Chloe as a puppy, she did regress a little, but it was nothing we couldn't fix and you still need to enjoy life! |
