Hi all! My name is Ryan, 26 y/o male from the New England area. I really never liked Yorkies or small dogs, but when I saw pictures of my ex-girlfriends' deceased yorkie Lucy about a year ago, I fell in love with the breed!

Ever since then, I have become nearly obsessed with them, to the point of ridicule from my friends! :p Any time I'm at the mall, I stop into the pet stores and see if there are Yorkies that I can hold! I look at youtube videos of yorkies, pictures, and now the forum. I guess I have a question -- is it weird for a heterosexual man to love Yorkies so much? I love all dogs -- Boxers used to be my favorite breed -- but Yorkies have stolen my heart.

I can't wait to get my own little baby some day, and I don't care if it's not "manly", but I'm going to put cute little PJ's on her and bows in her hair!

My husband absoultly is in love with his little boy as he calls him, he is worse them me sometimes, good luck. let us know if you get a yorkie..enjoy the reading.

aaah...ok. Well, you've come to the right place to learn just about everything there is to know about yorkies and how to go about finding a reputable breeder (not a pet store) :)

Welcome! Of course it not weird. How can you not love these sweet babies.
My DH is a manly man, let me just say...Zhoie stole his heart from the jump!
Will look forward to seeing pictures of your little one when the time is right for you to get a pup.
Please read all you can on here before you make a purchase, don't buy from pet store please...that is supporting puppy mills. Buy the breeder first...then the puppy.

Hello and welcome to Yorkie Talk! It is hard to imagine how one could not love a Yorkie so to answer your question, it is absolutely not weird for a heterosexual man to love Yorkies so much?

YAY! Another guy...glad you have a GF but FYI...Yorkies are chick magnets :eek:...friend of mine in So Cal got a Chi just to attract the ladies...he took excellent care of him but it was too funny in his reasoning for a Chi instead of a Staff LOL :p...hahaha congrats coming here...WELCOME :yorkiesar I'm not into unnecessary clothign on dogs...bows are used to ensure the dog can see properly...it's just a side effect they are so stinking cute

Welcome aboard. Old former Marine here, and Yorky's are one of my 2 favorite breeds. We have 2 Yorkies and one Cane Corso for them to protect!

My husband used to say all he wanted was a chocolate lab, until our ex-sil got a yorkie and saw how attached I got to him on Xmas day, two years ago! He surprised me in May '09 by taking me to pick out our baby Neo. Needless to say, Hubby got just as attached as me, turning into "crazy dog daddy". NOTHING was too good for "HIS boy"! One year later, we got Neo a brother -Connor, and he loves on him like he does a child. There is nothing more manly to me than a guy that LOVES animals, PERIOD!! :D

It's not weird at all - actually, my husband was the one that wanted a yorkie. I asked him what breed of dog he wanted and he told me he wanted a yorkie. My exact response was "You want a WHAT?!" Now we have two and I love them!

Welcome! My harley riding DH loves our yorkies. He's always picking one up and kissing them. Hopefully you will have one of your own soon.

Welcome to YT. My husband and adult son, like to tease that Shadow is "not a real dog". They each have their large dogs.

But.....I catch them snuggling Shadow, talking babytalk and giving her kisses. They get into your heart.

Welcome to YorkieTalk, Ryan. To give you a brutally honest answer to your question, " is it weird for a heterosexual man to love Yorkies so much?" The answer is yes! But it is ALSO totally wierd for any of us to love our Yorkies as much as we do.

I sincerely hope that you find a little Yorkie furball to warm your heart and dress in pj's.
