Yorkie at high kill shelter in san bernardino ca!! Female- 2month old yorkie/terrier mix available for adoption as of tomorrow Saturday, March 19. Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Terrier | San Bernardino, CA | A486713 Devore URGENT-Puppy Please pass this on to anyone who may be interested!!!! You can also search for her on the Devore Animal Shelter website! |
oh i sure hope someone gets that pup out of there! |
oh she is so cute I wish I lived there I would go get her |
After 5 days what kind of place is this!? Why would they put her down anyways-is she sick or have major behavioral issue it's a pup-I can't fathom it. Anyone there willing to just get him/her and find them a home later...he's so cute I'm sure given a moment to find a home he'd find on fast... I found this link but hopefully someone there can directly assist or knows a rescue to help jump... OP here: — California Yorkie Rescue — ADOPTIONS —*RescueMe.Org Yorkie Rescue Groups < California > Rescue's By Breed Edit note: This is sickening to me and it makes it so much worse SHE looks just like a mini version of my Schnorkie Scoobers... |
I would suggest contacting YTNR or UYR Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue, Inc. United Yorkie Rescue - A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Yorkshire Terrier Rescue Organization They both have California members. |
How sad. :( I hope someone gets the poor baby. |
I just sent an email to a friend of mine who lives in Newport Beach and volunteers for UYR to see if she can get her if she's still there. Puppies seem to get adopted quickly, and this baby is a doll and probably isn't even there. |

That is great. Thank you! |
She said she's going to get her tomorrow morning if she's still there. ;) |

Thank you! I wanted to go out there tomorrow to get her if she was still available! So happy that a puppy could be saved by just posting here on yorkie talk!!!! Thank you!!!!!!! :) |
Yorkiedaze: Please keep us updated on her progress!!! I would love to adopt her but my hubby would kill me i already have a 8 month old yorkie puppy who just had surgery! Post pics of her too if u can :) |
I don't want to hijack the thread here but I wanted to put this out there already... I read the how to make a dog bed out of an old table (here's the link for it) DIY Dog Bed so I went to the Animal Companion Foundation Thrift store and of course did not find a table suitable but there was the cutest Yorkiepoo trying so hard to get attention and rolling on the floor jumping up on the glass behind the counter I asked the girl working a few questions about him thinking he was her dog...he's not...he was used for breeding and turned in by someone 'who had far too many dogs to care for" so I have posted this everywhere except here...he's in no risk of euthanasia but he does need a home so maybe the love and savior vibe could go on...local(ish) adoptions only Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Arcata, CA | Patches I wanted to take him home but the boy said NO! We're about to have skin kid #3 so the reality is we'd not be doing Patches a favor by taking on more than we could handle right now. Of course it would be me to go into a rescue's thrift store to buy a dog bed and almost leave with another dog! Companion Animal Foundation |

Does anyone recall someone from SanDiego looking for a yorkie for their highly functioning autistic brother ? I can't find the post but this would be in their area for travel, not too far. |

I believe I have seen you post this before?? I am not sure what your experience was with YTNR, but honestly I think to make a blanket statement like this is a bit unfair. I know for a fact that group does take in yorkies in California. Each rescue has their own protocol. I don't know what happened and I don't have direct dealings with them, but being a rescuer myself, I don't like to see postings like this......it is not productive in the overall scheme of things. What is most important is the pups! We all need to remember that at all times...bashing a rescue is not productive. I don't think you mean to do that at all. I just think that you are telling your story which might be best not told..just my opinion. There would be no harm in someone telling them about this puppy. The bottom line is the puppy needs to be saved. Trust me, it hurts everyone to see so many pups in shelters. And, the public only sees part of it......rescues receive emails every day from shelters and from people wanting to surrender their pups. It is just awful. :( While we cannot save them all, we do our best. |
So sad to see such a young puppy in a kill shelter. And people wonder why we speak out against unplanned and unwarranted breeding?? I hope that someone close can help this little puppy. |

I was also with one of the above mentioned groups. I always try to look at the overall good that groups do. :) |

I know of a shelter in a more rural area of TN, that I follow on facebook, that doesn't even have walls! They seem to get puppies a lot and the poor things are left exposed to the elements. This is an area that is supposedly poor and struggling economically. They get donations of broken bags of unsellable food from Wal-mart, but sometimes they don't know if they will have enough to feed the dogs. Fortunately, they have a great group of volunteers who are working tirelessly to improve things though and have come a long way in the past few months. It's at least encouraging to see that there are people who care to put so much effort in. Adoption rate is getting better and they are able to hold a bit longer that way. |

So glad she was adopted and hope we all end up seeing her pics on YT! That is sickening! I see why now some people on here flip out when I say take the stray you found to animal control (pound). Although I still believe people should be obligated to do so to have the dog scanned-where would you report your missing dog too-however I have had many dealing with local pounds here-we have a standard of care that I consider needing improvement but apparently it is vastly above most-there needs to be some legislation to make improvement. I'm going to look into what I can do and it (something has to be) can be done. The pound where I got my Scoobers from is about 200 miles south of me-there are just North of the Bay Area and get a lot of pup mill dogs dumped there-the pound there couldn't handle the intimidation so they are now working hand in hand with 3 I think now 4 rescues (literally the buildings are attached) to ensure no animal without serious medical or behavioral issues finds a home. My local animal shelters when not overwhelmed actually takes in smaller dogs from all over (usually CA bit some from other states-driven or flown in) because we have a want for smaller dogs here and there is excesses elsewhere. Thank God that baby has been saved. |
It is three days in many shelters here in Texas. What people do not really understand is the vast numbers of pups that are ending up in shelters on a daily basis. There simply is not enough room for them. :( I don't like the number of days either, but I also know that irresponsible pet ownership is a huge problem in this country...as well as indiscriminate breeding. |
I am so glad that she was adopted. The shelter I volunteer with is a no kill. They have a home for life if need be. It may not be ideal but at least they have a chance. Most of the small dogs are in foster care. |
Here the pounds (animal control's) policy is a stray is held for up to 45 days (special circumstances minimum 15 days with a procedure of protocol)...before pending going up for adoption...at that time behavior and health are evaluated. I thought that was all of CA's policy until I just read otherwise...what to do what to do... Our animal control will not take owner surrenders they provide people with a list of rescues, and fosters...but in the event a dog is not a stray...15 days for evaluations... |
