Does Your Yorkie Do This? Bella ALWAYS follows me into the bathroom. While I am sitting she sits at my feet and chirps. Not a whine, just a chirp. She continues until I am done. Was wondering if anyone knows why she would do this? Thanks for your input. Have a GREAT day with your furbaby/ies!:) |
That is funny. I would like to see this on video. Mine do not do this, can't wait to see some other somments though. |
Yeah, since I live alone I've given up closing the door when I go to the bathroom. If I close it, I get kitty paws under the door and a whiney puppy. I guess they think I'm trying to escape out of the window...though there have been days when I've considered it, lol. That chirping thing though...thats weird, lol. |
Teegy always comes in the bathroom with me and I've shut the door and he will just sit outside and scratch to get in, he makes noises but no chirping |
Jed will do the same thing! Not so much the chirping but will sit at my feet and huff! If I stand at the sink for very long washing dishes...same thing. If I am sitting in the living room, Jed feels like he "needs" to be in my lap. If I am busy, he will sit with someone else but as soon I sit...he is leaving them and charging at me. :) He L.O.V.E.'s me. :D |

Tallulah always follows me into the bathroom. But if I'm taking too long, she gets impatient and either barks at me or bites my toes. We are working on correcting the biting habit. I would like to hear what the chirping sounds like. |
My Tia will follow me to the bathroom and just sit there and look at me. When I finish and flush she has to see the(whatever) spin arond the toilet and go down. Sometimes she will have toilet paper everywhere for me in my bedroom just in case I cannot make it to the bathroom...:D |
Yes Troy will follow me to the bathroom. He will stand in front of me and just look at me. If he wants me to hurry up sometimes he'll try and tug at my roos. |
Minnie is starting to follow me to the bathroom too, well really Anywhere I go around the house. I thought she just missed me all day, but seems to be a common 'Yorkie trait'. She does whine and poke her little furry paws under the door when I leave her outside. But 'chirpping' hmm not soo much. |
Hercules does this anytime I'm in the bathroom. Whether I'm brushing my teeth or trying to get in the shower. He sits on the bath mat and talks to me while I do what I'm in there for and then follows me out. If I manage to go in there without him if he hears the water running he comes running. He doesn't do it with anyone else in the house and if he runs into the bathroom because he hears the water and it isn't me, he leaves. I don't mind when I'm just brushing my teeth or in the shower, but I'm a bit audience shy when I'm using the restroom. Apparently is does matter if the audience is a puppy. = ) |
Lil' Miss Izzie does the same thing....in the morning after my shower and while I am getting ready (at the sink, brushing teeth, combing hair, putting on makeup) she will be fixated on the toilet waiting for me to put kleenex/tissue in, then waits for the flush...once I get ready to flush she will run around to the other side of the toilet, look up at me then into the toilet, back at me, back into the toilet....it always gives me a great start to my day...... |
Mine dont chirp but they go in the bathroom and when my husbands ready to get off the pot chachi barks |
these stories are so cute & so funny! Princess has "taught" me to leave the door to the bathroom & bedroom open or else!! since it's just me and my daughter it's no biggie. when i'm on the toilet she'll either try to get some tub water, bring me a toy & demand that i play or even jump on my lap! sometimes she'll jump up quick then onto the counter! (she learned that because if the lid was down she'd use that...well one time it wasn't, she jumped up, went in, scrambled then ran in the l.r. soaking me! |
Hi everyone this is my first time on here. I thought my yorkie followed me to the bathroom because he was attached to me and I couldn't get out of his sight but I guess they all seem to do that. |
Darwin follows me, stares at me then the bathtub, then at me, then at the tub...then at me, then the tub....it's his way of saying "I want a bath woman!" LOL. He loves his baths. |
Elvis can be asleep and he will wake up and run down the hall after me and lay on the bathroom floor just to supervise so I don't fall in....he also makes something similar to a "chirp" sound... Poor Elvie-roo, (usually in my room) does sometimes gets shut in a room. We shut all door in the house behind ourselves here... Poor Elvie-roo sometimes isn't as fast getting off a bed in that room as the person going out the door...anyways, he makes a chip sound until he's found...well for a minute at most then he'll bark LOL. Someone on here said, " I though I would be able to go to the bathroom by myself undisturbed when my children were no longer young, then I got a Yorkie." |
Bevo seems to think it's time to play fetch when I go to the bathroom! I guess he thinks I sit there because I'm bored!:D |
LOL!! That is so funny! I started cracking up when I read your post! Mine follows me everywhere. I love it. He watches me do the dishes, laundry, exercise... everything. Sometimes when I'm doing my own thing when the music is on he will start rolling all over the floor like he's so excited... They are too cute! |
I just gave up on shutting the bathroom door if no gusts are over here too  I feel bad but that's such a cute hilarious story...:D Quote:

This is a funny thread, and waaaaaaay more info, than we really need lol... However, mine follow me to every room, too! Sometimes I have to close myself in the bathroom, when I'm on the phone to a client, because they will all start barking, running and playing and I can't hear what the other person is saying, not to mention, it's probably annoying to the cient!...As soon as I hang up, they stop ...Also, when out of the shower Apple thinks it's her job to grab the towel, and try to run away w/it...They are so naughty, but so much fun :D |
bathroom duty my little girl, sits at my feet whining until I pick her up when I am seated in the bathroom, I know I know too much info lol and when I bathe...she stands on the side of the tub lol Dear Gawd, I have Yorkie OCD. lol abbie |

Chuck always follows me to the bathroom I know some people think it’s annoying but I find it cute and amusing…:p I guess they do it because they literally can’t stand to be away from us for one minute! :D |
Tibbe follows me throughout the house, including the restroom, most times and should I tary in any other room, he also chrips at me as a reminder that we should get back to the den/kitchen area which is where he much prefers to spend his day with all his creature comforts - his big window, his special couch pillow, his fuzzy bed, his food, water, toys, chew toys, outdoor access. He considers that area to be his "headquarters" I guess! Other times, he just mellows out on the den couch and lets me do my thing wherever I am in the house but if stay too long, Tibbe is there standing in the door or sitting down beside me and chirping. If I am busy and tell him, "Uh on", he snorts and goes on his way. He sure does consider himself to be the keeper of the daily schedule in our house. |
Trixie will chirp if she wants my attention....especially if I have been at the computer (YT?) for too long  She also comes into the bathroom with me and has since she has been out of her expen. She waits patiently, but does stare at the drawer that holds her toothbrush and toothpast till I get them out and do her teeth. One bathroom habit she has is that when I turn on the water in my upstairs shower to bathe, she barks and then when I go to get in she will jump on me and nip at my ankles to keep me out of the shower. We have a full length glass shower doors so it's not as if she can't see me . She also barks at the hairdryer till I give her a little "blow dry"...then she leaves :( They are definitely quirky ;) |
All four of mine follow me into the bathroom. I am no longer allowed to go alone. If I close the door, they will sit at it and scratch. |
