In need of a veterinarian in the Atlanta area! I am in need of a good, reasonably priced veterinarian in the Atlanta area! I have had a few bad experiences with the vets that I have been to so far. I honestly don't see how people can afford to own a pet here and afford to get it the medical attention it needs! I recently took my little Lucy who had just given birth to 4 puppies to a local vet, she didn't seem too interested and said there was nothing she could do that everyone looked fine and on the way home, she gave birth to another puppy! Also, while in the office I was asking about calcium tablets and she told me that I didn't need them that Yorkies do great with puppies, I knew that was false as I have read these forums for over a year. Anyways, 2 nights later, even with me giving her PetCal tabs my little Lucy had to be rushed to the ER due to Eclampsia! Also, they vets here want $42.00 per puppy for their first shots, $56.00 per puppy to have their tails docked and dewclaws removed (already had this done). It's just outrageous to me! I used to live in TN and just called my vet there and they only want $19.00 per puppy for the shots and $10.00 to remove the tails. It will honestly be cheaper for me to make the 5 hour trip up there to have it done! Anyways, if you could recommend someone it would be a lot of help to me. |
I use Webb Bridge Animal Hospital in Alpharetta, have been going to them for years and I am very happy with the service I get. They treat my animals like part of their family. I have no idea how much puppy shots are going to cost or if they are even the same puppy shots I got Sophie Kate when I first got her. Honestly $42.00 does not sound like a bad price to me (what do I know). I will warn you the Vets at Webb Bridge are very direct, meaning they will not sugar coat exactly what needs to be done for treatment to animals. That puts a lot of people off but I personally like it. If you are concerned about the cost have you considered UGA? I know they have a Vet school and maybe the costs are reduced - just a suggestion. Good luck finding a vet. |
Our vet charges $49 for a first well-puppy exam. We don't live anywhere near metro either! Small-town central Florida. :) Sorry I can't contribute to ATL vets, but I will ask my SIL...she lived there for a while with her shorkie and had to take her to the ER while she was there. |
I use Alpharetta Animal Hospital in (where else) Alpharetta. They don't require appointments as it is first come first served unless condition warrants otherwise. Only time there is a long wait is on Saturday. I have used this vet office for almost 30 years. It has been many years since I had a bitch & whelps so I don't have any idea about those particular services. I do know that having pups is never cheap, however. |

Those are the going prices around here, even out here in the sticks of Metro Atlanta. Compared to San Diego, I think they are fairly cheap. I've always liked the vets at Coal Mountain Animal Hospital (in Cumming), but I don't think they would be much cheaper. I've been told that Pet Vet on Martin Road in Cumming is a good place for inexpensive exams and vaccinations, but they don't do anything complicated (they are primarily a low cost spay/neuter clinic). I haven't been there so I can't attest to the quality. |
In 2004 when we had to evacuate because of the hurricanes we stayed with our daughter in Dallas, GA. She didn't want us bringing the dogs as she had a big dog, so we boarded them at New Georgia Animal Hospital on Villa Rica Hwy. I was happy with the care they got there, but it was 6 years ago so don't know if anything has changed. You may want to check them out. Up to last year we still got reminders from them that the shots were due! - We had to get their shots when we took the dogs there as in all the hassle of having to evacuate I forgot the vet records, and they couldn't contact our vet to confirm they had had their shots. |
I live in Atlanta and use North Hills Animal Hosptial in Chamblee. They are a small practice but very reasonable on their prices. It's right off of 285 and Chamblee-Tucker Rd. 770-451-6740. I not sure how much it would cost you but I would call them to get an exact quote. |
I use Erin Hernandez at Brookhaven Animal Hospital. She is a personal friend so I know how much she cares about animals and how knowledgeable she is. Their prices are pretty average for Atlanta, although I doubt they are cheaper than what you listed above. That seems pretty typical to me. |
