Carsick pup Lexie has horrible carsicknesss, everytime she rides in the car she'll either throwup on the way home and/or as soon as she gets in the house. Yesterday i took her in to the vet for a checkup and on the way back home she threw up all her kibble, then started salivating excessively. When we finally got home and i put her down she started acting panicky and crying then threw up twice on the carpet. Is there anyway to settle her tummy or prevent this from happening? |
I have the same issue with Rocco. He always throws up and drools excessively. However, this past weekend i took the advice one member suggested here on YT (under traveling). I gave him 1/4 piece of Bonine one our berfore our trip. It is like a Dramamine. I bought it at CVS. It worked!! Both going and coming back, we have a 2hour trip to our little country cabin in PA. He was fine! This was a first. I also dont feed him before any trip. Its worth a try. Good Luck. |
Oh and Rocoo is 81/2 months and weighs 71/2 -8 lbs. |
Is Lexie in a carrier while she's in the car? I used to put Lily in one and she'd poop and throw up all over the place. One day, I let her just sit on my lap or on the seat and she was just fine. Now she loves going places and sticking her head out the window. |
I bought a Pet Gear seat for him and he also threw up in that, thats why I resorted to the Bonine. I am hoping he outgrows it.. we do alot of traveling in the warmer months. Hopefully Lexie may have a better result with the car seat.. |
I had the same problem with my pup. I took him on a 3 hour car ride to California in his crate. He threw up and also had diarrhea the whole time we were there, and threw up on the way home also. This past weekend we went on the same trip and instead of putting him in his crate I put his bed on the front seat next to me. I know this is unsafe but I couldn't deal with a sick dog all weekend again. I also did not feed him that morning. He started out in his bed and then worked his way over to my lap, then crawled up behind my neck and laid between my neck and the seat the whole trip! I guess he found a good spot! Worked for me, as I don't really like him in my lap while driving. He did not get sick and did not have diarrhea once we arrived. On the way home, he did the same thing, but ended up sitting in my lap most of the trip. |
Jack used to get sick every time we went somewhere in the car. It was usually to the vet's office. I talked with vet about this, she said if I was going to take a long trip she could give me something for it. I started taking him for short rides and he either got used to riding in car or just grew out of it. Now he and Josie love to go car riding. They sit up in their car seat and look out, and lay down when they get tired. |

Winston too Winston is 10 months and always gets sick in the car. We bought him a seat to look out front, that didn't help. We put the seat in the back, that didn't help. Gave him some Homeo Pet Travel Anxiety, and their Digestive Upsets drops, nothing worked. Last time we used 1/2 tablet of Dramamine and no food before we left, that did work. But I sure help he grows out of this because we travel alot and camp and I hate for him to get sick every time he rides in the car. I have to say I'm not crazy about the cleanup either. It makes it hard on both of us. I have been sneeking him in his bag with me for short runs to the store to see if that will help. Time will show if all this works :confused: |
