little nervous Hello I have 2 yorkies ava and audri. Yesterday my 3 year old mated with another yorkie but now I'm seriously worried about her having puppies. I have no idea what to expect I don't even know where to start in researching pregnancy. Can anyone give me some advise? I will post pics of my girls later. |
You need to post this in the breeder section |
How big is she? You may want to go ahead and take her to the vet to discuss your options. Once she is out of heat a spay might be an option if this was unwanted or if it could be dangerous to your girl. Is she un-spayed for a reason? Has she had a litter before? |

I would be more than a little nervous as pregnancy and whelping are a risk to your little female, especially if I were not an experienced breeder. There are so many things that could go wrong before getting them help and if one doesn't know exactly what to do in the meantime, it could be disastrous. Each owner has to consider if it is worth the risk of possibly losing their baby. |
She is almost 3 never had puppies of course she had never had the oppertunity. She weights 8-9lbs and the male is 4-5lbs. If she is prego I will make sure I know everything thats pretty much why Im on here, and if not shes getting spayed. |
Take her to your vet, discuss the options... |
Like others said get her to the vet as soon as possible- your vet will know more than we do about her overall health and how risky a pregnancy would be to her health. If you wanted to spay now and abort her litter, the sooner you get her in the better. |
Thats sick....abortion? No way. Just wonder if anyone could tell me how to prepare if she it pregers. Thanks though... |

The vet can prepare you based on your dog's individual situation more than random people on an internet forum...not that people here aren't knowledgeable and helpful (you received great advice in all the threads you started on this topic) but if they are not there, well an internet forum doesn't replace hands on qualified advisement in RL. People here can share and educate but that's not a suitable substitution for it all (IMO). |
I'm going to add Vet, that is where you should seek your best advice, they will know your dogs health history better than anyone on here, although you would get good advice here too, but she may not even be pregnant, so the vet is a good place to start |
I don't know how long ago the dogs locked, but there was "morning after pill" to prevent implantation out there for dogs out there. But I'm not sure how safe it is in dogs. I would definitely discuss possible options with your vet. |

There is a lot of info in the breeding section, but you really need someone physically with you when you have no experience. Check for a breeder in your area who would be willing to mentor you and help you. |

Whelping a litter is serious business. If she's pregnant... you have approximately 9 weeks to prepare yourself. First get her to the vet have a ultra sound performed to insure that she is indeed capable of having these pups naturally. Establish a relationship with your vet and make sure that he is available to you 7x24. You may need him. Read everything you can about whelping, begin gathering equipment and medical supplies. Make sure that she is being fed the best food possible. If you work make sure that you can have time off beginning a week before her due date and until those pups are about 12 weeks of age. Yep! you go nowhere....you are tied to the house. Prepare yourself financially for an emergency (c-sections are approximately anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000). That's dependent on where you live and what time of day they are performed. You will also have to make sure that you have funds alloted for all vet care for the pups ....... |
