My 4months yorkie have color dilution alopcia! My yorkie have color dilution alopcia and her hair is losing more and more...it has bald on her back and getting worse. Anyone of you have experience of this? Will my yorkie hair regrow? Im so worry she getting bald..help plz!! |
Welcome to YT!:) I'm wondering if it could be a food allergy. Have you taken your pup to a vet - hopefully it could something as simple as changing her food - what are you feeding her right now? Some good quality foods are Orijen and Go! Now. Many grocery store pet foods are really lacking some of the basic necessities - Yorkies eat so little it isn't too expensive to feed them really good food. Hopefully someone on YT will have a yorkie that has experienced the same thing your little one has. Good luck and let us know how things are going! |
If she is blue born that is part of the symptoms is hair loss |
How long have you had her?? What color was she when you got her? Did her breeder mention if she was a blue born? Blue born pups are silver and tan when they are born, not black/tan. |
Thank you for all reply~ when i got her i feed her royal cannin, but after i saw her losing hairs i changed food to wellness puppy. yes i have taken her to the vet, it said she have a Color dilution alopecia. Im not sure if she is blue born or not, she was born in 11/15/2010, i got her in 1/20/2011. When i got her she was black and tan but her head was little silver growing up. Breeder didnt mention she is blue born, but the contract said my yorkie color was Blue and Gold. Do you guys think she is blue born? |
also i called the breeder to ask if she is blue born or not, he doesnt understand what is blue born mean. and i said the contract said she is blue and gold but she looks black and tan. then he said because her skin is blue. Does this means she is blue born? if she is blue born does she have health problem or can't leave longer? |

Also , keep her out of the direct sun so she doesn't get sunburned. |
Can you post pictures of her so others can see if she's blue. |
Ask your breeder if she if her hair was blue/silver and gold when she was born rather than black and tan. If she was then she is a blue born. Now as adults regular yorkies can be blue and gold so pictures of her now isnt going to tell us anything. Im pretty certain color alopciea (sp) means blue born. Im pretty certain I have read that |
Oh and by the way not all blue borns have health problems some just have hair loss problems. You can do a search on here for blue borns and you will get more info. |
If she was black and tan then she isn't a blue born. Go to my pics and u can see what a blue born is. Their skin color isn't what you look at, it's the color of their fur. A dog can have CDA even if they weren't blue borns. my pup was born silver (blue).... You can see the difference! |

wheres the bald spot? some people who just breed to breed and dont do the research dont know the true answers..the guy, i could be wrong, but i think the blue skin is an old wives tale for what color coat they will have as an adult...cant really tell at that young of an age she is beautiful |
I dont know the answer, but OMG she is adorable! |
She is darling, and I don't know much about blue-born, but she doesn't look like any I've seen on here. She looks like a normal Yorkie to me, and I hope there is some other explanation for her hair loss. Where is the bald spot on her body? Are you sure she didn't lick away the spot of hair? One of my puppies did that once due to itching flea bites. Maybe you should get a second opinion from a different vet. |
She doesnt look like a blue born at all. Her fur is nice and black on her main body...it would be grey! Hopefully, there is some simple solution to her hair loss. I would definately get a 2nd opinion! She is a real cutie!!:) |
Sorry I can't help you much but She is ADORABLE!!!! what a cute face she has!!!! Hope her hair will grow! what did the vet say besides the medical term? Did they say that her hair will grow? You also mentioned this was when you switched from Royal Canin to Wellness puppy correct? Perhaps going back to Royal Canin won't be bad. My coco's eating Royal Canin right now because thats what the breeder fed. I will switch when I move to Canada with her in August. |
2 Attachment(s) You might want to ask your vet about Melatonin. I have a foster who had hair loss on his trunk due to Alopecia X, also known as pseudo-cushings. We started him on Melatonin and his hair started growing back in about 8 weeks. Below are before and after pics of Sunny D: Attachment 340302 Attachment 340303 You also might want to get another opinion from a dermatologist to be sure it is the correct diagnosis. |

KenLong your puppy is absolutley beautiful! I would definitely get a second opinion. Where are you in NY? Are you in the city? If so, I can recommend a wonderful vet for you. |
