| You will be lucky to catch it quick. Give her a bath using Dawn dishwashing soap.. lather up and leave on 5 min., start lather at the neck so fleas from body won't run up to hide in ears. Rinse very well.
Wash her bedding and yours if she sleeps with you. Vacuum everything very thoroughly, daily at least until you are sure no fleas have fallen off especially on carpet.
If necessary you can get a pill from the vet for a one time quick kill off of fleas, it is called Capstar, and is only good to kill off fleas already on her, for 24 hrs., not a preventative.
Beyond that, if you need ongoing protection/prevention, some people use topical spot treatments like Frontline or Advantix, but I prefer pill form Comfortis. Depends on her age, and size. Good luck. |
