Help Sophie somehow got out of her playpen I left her alone for a less than 2 hours and somehow she got out of her playpen, there's no holes, no way to climb that I can see. I'm at a loss... she's tiny only 3.5 lbs and 12 weeks old, I can't imagine she jumped? Could she? She doesn't seemed hurt at all just really tired. Please let me know if your pups have done an Houdini move and how? Geeze I was so surprised. Thanks and warm regards, Rose |
Can she fit thru the bars? I also doubt she could jump out. |
There's no bars just mesh... I have no idea:confused: |
i'll bet she climbed the mesh with her claws! my puppy is 16 weeks old and she weighs 2.5 lbs. she is a climber!! |
My Lily was tiny about 3 lbs when I brought her home. I went to the store, came home and she was waiting for me out of her playpen. I scolded both children thinking they had taken her out. When they swore to me they did not, I decided to peek through the window the next time I went out. Sure enough, I watched her climb right up the mesh in about two seconds. |
Oh Man I am in trouble if she is a climber... I'd hate to put her in a crate. I'm so afraid she'll get hurt from the jump down. Does anyone know of a cover for playpens? |

I'm almost sure they have covers for the playpens. I would get in touch with the manufacturer. Oh and btw Zach also climbed the mesh on the playpen. They are very sneaky these little devils. |
Bailey can not only jump really high, but he will climb anything to get what he wants...LOL. Try video taping it next time... |
They make playpens for pets with tops that zip on. I switched to those after Tallulah escaped from her regular playpen shortly after I brought her home. The little dickens could jump high enough to catch the top with her front paws and scramble over. Here's an example of one currently on ebay: Purple Pet Dog Cat Tent Puppy Playpen Exercise Pen XS - eBay (item 280644124863 end time Mar-21-11 10:48:40 PDT) This is not the vendor I bought from -- but if you search on dog playpen you will find a bunch of these listings for soft pens in different sizes and colors. |
Your pup probably climbed up the mesh. You'll just need a top... Ellie jumps out of hers. |
Any ideas for secure covers for my existing cosco (cheapo) playpen? |
Hope Sophie is ok. my Sassy can jump over a 4 foot gate we have in the house to keep her confined with the other dogs in the kitchen. My husband had to raise it up another foot, but if she tried hard she could probably jump over this. She weighs 6 lbs. Tessie was a little houdini when she was 13 weeks and 3.5 lbs. She is too fat now. |

Oh my gosh.... Lily is too funny... I'm in real trouble with Sophie I think |

Thanks everyone... again everyone is so helpful :) We are going to try Boopster's recommendation and try a different type of playpen that zips at the top. Wish me luck. Know we are still looking for a great pet carrier so I can go on long walks with lil Sophie safely being carried in hopes of me trying to get more exercise. Warm Regards, Rose |
Sophie didn't seemed phased at all if anything Susan... I'd swear she seemed mighty pleased with herself and even proud |
they sell a fitted wire top for the xpen playpens. They run about $20.00. They fit on top and you clip them to it. I have one and my dogs can't get out. And by the way the little guys simply climb up and over the xpens. |
Apple jumped (or climbed?) a 36" gate, when she was about 5 months old...She was gated, in the kitchen, while I was at work...After that, I puppy proofed the living room/dining room/kitchen/entry hall and that's where she lived, from then on....lol...I didn't want to take a chance at her hurting herself...But, omg'sh, your baby is still so small...can't remember if you said how high the pen is? |

The dogs on the video got my dogs attention. lol My yorkie is a climber I watched her go straight up the side and over the top to get out, my new rescue I haven't tried to contain. |
Sophie's doggie daddy, Gus is a big jumper, this is where Sassy gets it from. Happy to know she has a great home and lots of love. |
so i used to put ella in the kitchen with a baby gate up and she used to climb it so we decided to stack two baby gates on top of each other it like 6ft tall and some how she climbed over that and would meet me at the door she also knows how to open her crate cage door...... |
Soph was a climber as a pup and we used one of the mesh baby playpens for her. Ended up just turning it upside down. When it came time for bed, we'd just lift up one side and tuck her under. |

When we crated them, Lily would use her paw to open her crate and then go let Daisy out. She literally does it within a minute of us leaving the house. So, they now have free run of the living room. We've also added two more pups. |

It works great even on grass/not paved surfaces. |
They sure as heck aren't stupid are they |
I take Teegy on long walks all the time, he can go for hours. I bring food and water and treats. He lets me know if he needs a wee rest and I carry him for as long as he needs and he lets me know when he wants down again. My friends have these dog harnesses where you can carry the dog on your chest like a baby carrier if you'd rather do that. Something like this Pet Pockets-Front Carrier |
