Can Yorkies go up staircases I know Jackson, who is 7 mos., can go up the stoop at my front door (about 6 inches high) Can Yorkies go up a full flight of stairs? |
Oh yes they sure can..We have within the house a set of stairs, all enclosed on the back (so she cannot fall through)...Schatzie runs up like a speed of lightening, down too. It took her months to master going down but once she figured it out, she had too much fun. Now our outside deck is extreamly high, appx 12 feet or so. Those stairs do not have the back enclosed and I DO NOT let Schatzie go up and down with fear of her falling through and landing on the concrete below. I have heard of little dogs doing this and Im just not wanting to take chances, so she is carried up and down when we head outside. |
Bouncer can fly up and down BOTH cases of stairs in our house like lightning! So yes, they can. :) |
Oh yeah the boys run up and down the stairs non stop. |
At first, Biggie was afraid to go up and down stairs. He would go up/down one or two and pause waiting for me to help him. Now that he's older he just runs up and down with ease!! :animal-sm |
Gracie goes up and down our stairs in the house. She started doing so about two weeks ago, so she'd have been about 14 weeks at the time. |
my oh my don't take them long to learn. ahia flys up and down. buckeye gets lazy and sometime just sits at the top and wants me to carry him down. other than being lazy he can go up and down with no problem. as a matter of fact that is one place that i place a baby gate or ahia will go up stairs and search for a loose sock to bring down stairs. |
Cha-Cha cannot go up and down stairs because the stairs in my house don't have the back enclosed. I don't allow Cha-Cha go up and down with fear of her falling and I never encourage her to do so. |
Tilly flies up and down our stairs. She has since she was like 13 weeks. And they are steep steep. Even PEOPLE have trouble with them but she's able to manage with absolutely no problem. :p |
Gucci refuses to use the stairs. We live in an apt building and she will stay on top waiting for me to carry her. She is even scare of the elevator, she doesnt goes in until I carry her. I guess she is miss princess. lol |
Oh Yes! My Autumn is just over 2 lbs and you should see her go.. lol |
Yup took Yoda a few months, since full height stairs are pretty high when they are so little, but once he grew up, he goes up and down them like a champ! Amazingly fast going down, I'd say fearless! |
Yeah Dolce was about 3 mths when she mastered the art of "flying" up and down the stairs. I cant believe how fast she goes up and down them...its pretty funny to be sitting on the couch and just see her hair flying in the breeze as she bounds up the steps!! |
My Sophie went up the stairs for the first time just today. I am uneasy with that because we do not have them closed in. :animal-sm She acted like it was no big deal. These puppies really do pack a lot of courage in their little bodies, don't they? I'll just have to keep a close eye on her. I'll ask my next door neighbors what they do with their yorkie, they have the same type of staircase. |
Stairs First, that picture of Sophie is REALLY cute! What do you mean by stairs not being closed? My steps have a banister with spindles on one side and at the top the landing has the same banister that runs the length of the "bridge", the spaces between each spindle on the bridge is easy for a little dog to fit through and the drop would be 10 feet! |
