First Visit to the Groomer? My baby Charlie is 8 weeks old now and he looks like a giant fur ball... What is the normal time frame for puppy's first haircut? I can't tell if I'm jumping the gun. Thanks!! :) |
I think my babies were around 5 or 6 months when they had their first cut/trim. |
i have the same problem, my puppy has like 2 lbs of hair:D. i was told that from 3-4months is the time where you can start getting them groomed. I have not been able to get momo groomed because its so cold out and i dont want him to be cold:animal36, but now he looks like a bear hahaha... |
8 weeks is way too young for a hair cut. I can't imagine his hair being that long at his age. It may seem poofy but that's just puppy hair and it will lay flatter as he gets older. Either way, You need to wait until your puppy has all his vaccines before taking him out of the house. At 8 weeks old he should just be getting his first distemper combo vaccine. He needs two more boosters. You may also want to consider a bordatella vaccine if he's gonna be around dogs a lot. Lastly, the rabies vaccine should be given at about 6 months old. Most groomers will take puppies after they've had all their distemper boosters. Some require rabies and bordatella as well. You'll have to ask around and find one your comfortable with. My yorkie got her first hair cut at about 8 months old. |
Presto was around 4 months old when he went for his first trim :) and his groomer only cleaned him up! his first real haircut was not until 6 months |
