Grooming and Hair Cutting (Extra Fine Coat) I have been grooming my Yorkie since he was a puppy (he is 7). I have done it all including bathing, hair cutting with thinning shears, cutting shears, anal gland (), clip his nails, and brush his teeth almost daily. I have taken him once to see if a "professional groomer" could do better than I could. Actually had a mobile groomer come to us. Difference was negligible plus the fact that I know, with me, he is well treated and I can do it in a couple of sessions if need be even though is is the best little boy and never moves or flinches. I have tried 3 or 4 different kinds of electric trimmers but have not found one that works with his baby fine hair. Getting around his feet seems to take the longest. Does anyone have any ideas on what type of electric trimmers work best for ultra-fine yorkie hair? Thanks, Samc and Bailey:) |
Have u tried man hair trimmers ;) |
Yes, I have some fairly good ones but they don't work well. Problem is his hair is extremely fine. If he had hair that was a little coarser like some Yorkies, it would be no problem. It is strange but you can run electric clippers through his hair and his hair seems to fold over in front of the cutters. If I was going to strip him it might but I don't want to do that, just take a little off every so often and the only way I have been able to do it is with thinning shears or regular shears. |
