So glad Bella is okay... read where they are wary of shiny, reflective things. Consider a sequined jacket to make her look less like a prey animal, and some gold and/or silver gazing balls placed around the yard, old CDs hung from branches or fence posts... anything that can catch and reflect light may startle and deter a large prey seeking bird out of an attack. |
we live in texas and we are already use to being carefull and watching out for hawks. because we to have had similar problems wth chihuahuas being taken from a neighbors yard and it was very scary. glad to know bella is alright |

But seriously will not take a chance. That was too scary! She will definitely be on a leash from now on. It's sad because my daughter's dog was over yesterday & the two of them always have a great time with free roam running & playing in the fenced in backyard. On leashes Now.:( |
Update & reminder! We had a beautiful sunny day here on Sunday, so my dh & I decided to let Bella out in the backyard with both of us on guard by her side. I was still nervous about it, shaken by the previous episode that happened while I was away. No Hawks in sight, thank goodness. Well..... just the next afternoon, my dh comes in from outside, calls me to the side door window. "4" HAWKS circling above a few houses away. One was Huge!! He said he thought the wing span looked to be at least 5' wide. Pls Pls Pls be extra careful out there with yr Babies!!:aimeeyork |

NOPE,those Hawks are not intimidated by people. I was hit with a blast of air to the back of my head when my pups were outside. The Hawk swooped down to get them as they ran in the house and as I followed I felt the air move my hair. They NEVER are allowed outside. |
How tall is your fence? Can you run wires straight across the top of it every 9"? Or get a GD and leash them together... |

I'm just thankful my dh was the one with her that day & he quickly took action. It's so hard to think that something like this could happen unless you've had a very close call & see it for yourself. That's why it's so IMPORTANT to keep reminding everyone of the dangers. NEVER want this to happen to anyone! |

With what we've seen lately, she will not be going outside. Too Scary!:( |

So glad we don\'t have hawks here, just night invading skunks, raccoons, & possums. |
OMG! That thing is huge and terrifying! I\'m glad little Bella is safe too bad about no more free run & play though but it\'s for her own good.. sigh |
hawk is probably stalking your yard for scooby snacks, you were very lucky |
