To late to train? Taffie is two yrs and I have had her about a month. I need to say that I live in the middle east and I bought her from a pvt owner and to tell the truth he did not say much about her history. I also have to admit I have not been very strong with her about potty time. My question is: is it to late for me to train her? Right Now she has chosen her own areas in the house togo and they are not good ones.. Help! |
No, it's never too late. You need to start all over again. 24/7 supervision and when you can't, she's in a crate or an ex-pen. There's a ton of threads on potty training in here in the training section. It's all about patience, supervision and time. |
:thumbup: I agree, never too late to train. You have to do your part and give Taffie ample opportunity to potty in the right place. Never stop giving praise for a good potty. The moment she does her thing, cheer her, "Good girl! Woohoo!" and maybe give a small treat. Don't scold for accidents and make sure to clean accident sites with an enzyme cleaner to eliminate the scent that will attract her to return to the spot. |
Never to late. I am a relic, and my wife is still training me! |
Thanks for all the support |
My corky is 2 also, and I am training him right now. I have made the choice to crate train him also, because he is jumping all over folks, barks when I leave, will not sleep in his bed. So I have A LOT to do. Good luck! |

By no means is it too late. Good luck and have a lot of patience, persistence and praise but eventually they get it and begin to learn what you want. |
Don't know why?? i don't know why this works but it does--enroll your dog in obedience classes. for some reason it works great on housebreaking!! Don't know why it just does. |
