FRUSTRATED!! What to do??? I'm having such TERRIBLE experiences with vets. I finally found a good one for Hope's dental. However, I'm frustrated! What do I do? Here's the story. I got Hope's bloodwork done at Century Veterinary Group near Culver City, CA. It's been a week and the doctor still hasn't called to debrief the results with me. I had to call 4 times to finally have the vet fax it to a friend so she can email me the results! Honestly, I'm NOT surprised that the vet did this because last time I went, she told me that I was wasting her time if I wasn't going to get all Hope's care there since she's giving me a "rescue" discount and there's clients next door that are paying full price. I was in a hurry to get Hope her bloodwork so I can get her dental done asap so I agreed to get her bloodwork done, but they haven't told me anything about the result. Another vet, Downtown Spay and Neuter Plus, was terrible as well! I had the $10 exam and the doctor informed me NOTHING about Hope except of her teeth...which everyone knows are in bad condition...I left them a bad yelp review and was going back for dental because I didn't have a choice. Then they used my review against me and said he "has the right to refuse service". Well, it was for the better because I found a great vet with about the same price since the bad vet always pushes you to get unnecessary stuff. What do I do??? Have anyone had any of these experiences??? There's MORE to the story, but I didn't want to want to write too much. I'm frustrated, please advise me on what to do... |
You've found what sounds like a good vet, so you stick with them. It's best to stay with one vet, unless there are problems. Her records are in one place and the vet becomes familiar with your pet. There is a great advantage to one vet that knows your pet's history. Whenever a problem comes up, then he/she will probably better know what to do. |
Finding a good vet is hard. I drive out to Hermosa Beach because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kaji's new vet. The vet and the techs quickly realized Kaji was scared and they took the time to make him feel comfortable before proceeding. The vet was there with him in the exam room giving him tiny treats until he let her touch him. Took a while, but I loved that she took the time to do it. :) I can't rave about the price, since I think it costs a little more, but I think the service is worth it. There really isn't much else you can do. If you were treated poorly, well then it's time to move on. |
If you find a vet that you and your dog like, that's who you stay with. My vet had been my first dog's vet and now of course Sammy's vet. I feel comfortable with her and she knows Sammy and his health concerns and he's such a good boy for her too. (He growls at everyone else at the vets). I trust her completely. I had one bad experience when my vet wasn't in and I had to see another vet who I feel was incompetent (that vet is no longer there, thank goodness). |
Best advise I can give: go to where DvlshAngel985 does... I sure have had these experiences...finding a good vet is like finding the right Dr. for your children...not easy! I saw a lower cost vet who was good but slam bamb I keep my prices down by doing it this way...then we had some serious medical issues and she even felt that it was best to deffer us to her partner...well that worked for a bit but we moved and received multiple second opinions before using her partner...and well that was X3 the amount plus duplicate tests etc in getting multiple opinions...now we had to get a new vet closer to the house we formerly were only at 3 days a week and live at full time now...I had no idea it was apparently so rare to find a vet that offers after hours emergency care-you have to be an established patient to get their emergency or after hours services...so far so good right but I don't like feeling liek I'm making compromises trading one service for another and I'm not even trying to be thrifty...that would be far too much to even ask...I really need to get pet insurance... |
