Cost of Dental with extraction
 
I have found a dental special that is $200 for everything, except antibiotics and pain killer meds. I have never had to take my babies in for dentals yet as we brush their teeth daily so I don't know how much dentals usually cost. Do they usually need take home meds or anything? They said that the antibiotics and pain killers will be around $60-70 together...I don't trust this vet because they always try to push me to get unnecessary stuff. Please let me know beforehand so I know what not to get. The only reason why I'm going to this vet is because I have no other choice as my budget for this rescue is limited. However, I am glad that she is getting her dental soon (this weekend)!!

I paid over 300 for a dental in San Diego 7 years ago, so $200 seems quite reasonable. We did get the antibiotics, but it was for my old Golden who had a heart murmur.

A dental with no extractions, xrays, or blood work runs about $200 here. That wouldn't include pain drugs or antibios b/c they usually aren't needed if no extractions.. That sounds very fair (although it's too low if blood work is included and not a good idea if it isn't). Also because it is on the low side, I'd wonder about anesthesia.

If there are extractions, pain meds are needed and antibios are going to be given.

Blood work is separate, I had it done elsewhere for $135. I am estimating her dental to be around $300...I don't think there's an xray also...didn't know that's part of dentals... it's all costing a fortune! Now I know how hard it is to rescue a dog...won't do it again until I'm done with all my schooling...probably in ten more years. lol

What would be wrong with the anesthesia??

200 is very reasonable. I paid much more in 07. Excluding pain meds and antibiotics

Sammy's dental with extractions was about $400. two years ago. He came home with antibiotics, but I don't remember if he had pain meds. Blood work had been done the week before the dental while they did his physical.

Xrays shold be done when pulling adult teeth. Not all vets do them though. Part of the price difference. Nothing would be wrong with the anesthesia most likely. The cheaper the price though, the more likely they aren't using the more expensive kinds (which is what they should be using). Always best to find out..

Just make sure you have the blood work done first.
Yes, trying to be a rescue all by yourself is very hard. Especially when you have lot's a of medical problems.

Not had to deal with extractions. But Bella's annual dental check up here is about 175. But I would pay 200.

Yes, it was hard, but it's amazing to see how different she looked a week ago (I've only had her for a week)...Of course, there's still a lot to work on, trust, training, etc. I am happy that she's no longer in horrid condition and knowing that I saved her is really rewarding in an inexplicable way.
