Allergies I have had severe allergies for 30 years. They have not bothered me much for the last 5 years since I have been in a dog-free home. I have been tested and I am not allergic to dogs but I am cats. I am very allergic to Grass, Trees, and just about anything outside. Well since we got Wylie 5 weeks ago my allergies have gone WILD. My eyes itch and tear to no end, I can't breath, I'm so stopped up and I am miserable. I know little Yorkie babies are hypoallerginic, so what could the problem be. The only thing I have come up with is he is so little and so close to the ground that when he goes out to potty he is bringing grass back in the house and when I pick him up I'm getting grass particles on me. We have that Bermuda Grass that is dead right now. Does not turn green until Mid-May I think. We moved in July so this type of grass is new to us. We are use to tall fescue (sp?) Do you think the grass could be the problem? I'm on allery Shots, Claritin-D and Visine-A. Nothing seems to be helping. |
I am sorry about your allergies and them going wild lately could very well be what you suggested in your post. Have you thought about peepad training. It might help if you keep your little one inside. |
I'm not sure about Yorkies being 100% allergenic... We got a Wheaten Terrier 10 years ago because my oldest daughter is terribly allergic to everything. I always kept Lucy out of the bedrooms, no carpet, weekly baths etc...and we did ok. When we got Ziva - a yorkie-1 1/2 years ago my daughter finally admitted that Ziva made her allergies much worse than Lucy did even tho she is 1/6 her size! Sorry to share this... |
We got the yorkie for my son's birthday. He will be 6 this month and they have bonded like you would not believe. It is so cute seeing them playing and chasing each other. I ask my skinbaby yesterday what were we going to do if Mommy is allergic to Wylie and without hesitation he said "You will have to divorce Daddy and move out". LOL I guess I know where I stand in this family. Only after 5 weeks with a Yorkie he is ready to boot me out the door for his dog. Kids say the darnest thing! |
My daughter loves animals, more than the other two kids, but at 24 she is realizing what she can (limited dog) and can't (cats) live with, and how to control her contact with them- bathing animals frequently, not rubbing her face in the fur!,not in her bed/room,especially with the allergy season cranking up here in FL... |
